Overview:
General Akira Nara, commander of the 65th Brigade, received reports that the enemy line had been breached. More specifically, that the “Hattori” Battalion previously out of communication, had re-formed and attacked the American main positions at dawn. Lieutenant Colonel Fry ordered his captains to counter-attack pockets of Japanese and push them back. Fry requested armor support but it was refused. Fry and his soldiers pressed forward, undaunted, with assistance from armed half-tracks from 24th Artillery.Attacker: American (Elements of I, K, and L Companies, 3rd Battalion, 57th Infantry Regiment, Philippine Scouts and reinforcing elements of 1st Battalion, 24th Artillery Regiment)
