Overview:

On the 28th, Captain Merritt of the 39th (a militia unit) was shaving in a creek when he received word that the Japanese, the Nankai Shitai (South Seas Detachment), had broken into his perimeter. He quickly rushed forward to support his men as soldiers of the 2/14 Australian Imperial Force entered the defenses to shore up the 39th. The Japanese attacks continued all day and into the night. On the 29th the attacks continued as waves of Japanese swept down Naro Ridge and into the Australian perimeter. The 39th was almost overrun when a fresh batch of AIF troops under Captain Nye rushed up to Front Creek, grabbing mortar bombs and grenades for hard fighting that they knew lay ahead.

2024-01-07(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Australian winI went with a full, every squad Banzai on Turn 1. Got into one of the holes on the British right flank, but failed to get into others. Dan's British would mow down my 9-0 and two squads and stripe many others. I would eventually secure the hill on Turn 4, but was down to a single squad with my 9-1 and of course the British reinforcements were sitting by the bridge. So, that was game. Apparently, a Banzai charge was a less than smart idea. But it was fun.
