Overview:

The road from St. Vith to Vielsalm ran straight through the railroad junction of Poteau, which had become vitally important to the Germans as their offensive bogged down in both the north and south. To keep the attack moving forward somewhere, Feldmarschall Model backed up the retreating elements of SS-Panzer-Division 1 with fresh troops and tanks of Brigade-fuhrer Sylvester Stadler’s SS_Panzer-Division 9 “Hohenstauffen”. They were to cut the road out of St. Vith and encircle any remaining American forces there.
Attacker: German (SS) (SS-Panzer-Division 9 "Hohenstauffen")
Defender: American (7th Armored Division, 814th Tank Destroyer Battalion)

2025-12-30(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins American win4 hrs
2025-12-30(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best American win4 hrsHard fought game until the final turn. Dan's SS came on hard, but the final fire of the Americans held them off for the win. Dan had one Panther recalled due to MA, another Panther crew bailed on an immobilization and were KIA'd in the 50 CAL fire lane when they bailed out. A Bazooka took out another Panther and immobilized a STUG. And the last Panther was knocked out by a M-36. The other M-36 was knocked out early in the game. The Americans would create 2 Heroes and an 8-0. The Heroes were instrumental in holding the buildings at the end.
2025-12-06(A) Dan Owsen vs Jeff N Draw3 hrsGot to the beginning of turn 6 and called it for the SS, even though I think it was still an open game. The Germans had only lost one Panther and a squad, while the American tank destroyers and a Sherman were burned and two bazookas were taken out of the fight (one was used by the SS to kill a Sherman). I do think this is a tough scenario for the Germans, especially with the Americans getting a last half-turn to re-take the victory buildings, but an interesting tactical challenge. Really pushes the SS to be aggressive and push forward every turn, which is probably what they need to do in any scenario they're in...
2025-09-24(A) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier American winVery close game that came down to the last DF shots by the Germans to break the Americans. Heavy snow fall gave the extra +1 which initially helped the SS, but in the end, helped the US.
