Overview:

To delay the Soviet onslaught from reaching the main Finnish defense line, the finns engaged in a series of fighting withdrawals. Orders for one such delaying action was directed to 1st Company, Hämmen ratsurykmeniti (Häme cavalry regiment) at the small village of Perkjärvi, with support from the only combat-worthy AFV in the entire Finnish army at the time, a Landsverk 182 armored car commanded by Vilho Savikurki. After a suitbale delay, the Finns began to pull out when Savikurki realized a Soviet force had cut off the cavalry's rearguard platoon from the rest of the force. As Soviet fire poured in from all directions, Savikurki's armored car was able to escort the cavalrymen to safety, sheltering four wounded men inside the cramped quarters of the AFV.

2025-03-04(D) Lee Hyde vs Joseph Armold Russian winA fascinating tussle with a lucky early despatch of the Armored Car left a game of Cat & Mouse as the Finns sought a route off board to achieve victory. The Russians got some lucky hits in breaking the Finnish leader late on, and whilst he came back the time lost meant some risky rushes through open ground to make victory a possibility. Fortunately the Russians had some decisive defensive shots to prevent the Finns achieving victory as the clock expired.
2024-09-21(A) Jobbo Fett vs RootinPutin Finnish winThe Finnish supermen were able to evacuate safely despite breaking on an unlucky set of morale checks at the first possible chance. There's something to be said about the poor quality of the Soviets and the Finns that can make or break the enjoyment one has with a scenario like this.

I would have much preferred if the victory condition included not losing the Armored Car (else you raise the EVP required from 5 to 7) to make life a little more dangerous for the attacker. I'd be curious to know how most of the ROAR victories for the Russians happened (an impossible ask) as I really think this one comes down to a few lucky rolls and then forcing surrenders for them.
2024-05-27(D) John Garlic vs Adam Lunney Finnish win
2024-01-06(A) Pascal Boileau vs Alban Bureau Finnish winA small and funny scenario. The Finns won by entering on the Northeast and exiting in the Southwest area of the map in the last turn. The armored car was very useful but the dice were also deadly for the Russians. This combination proved to be fatal for the Russian troops.
