Overview:
The “Tatra” Division, with 5000 men and thirty tanks, formed the backbone of German Command Solvakia. Obergruppenfuhrer Berger promised Himmler that the Slovak uprising would be crushed within four days. Consolidating in the center of the mountainous country, Colonel Jan Kuna’s 1st Defence Region of the 1st Czechoslovak Army set out to hold the strategic Strecno Gorge. With a few obsolescent AFVs of the own and assistance from some escaped French POWs, the valiant Slovaks were able to keep the Tatra Division’s tanks from maneuvering effectively in the rugged terrain.Attacker: German (Panzer Division "Tatra")
