Overview:

EVERY PART OF BOTH SIDES FORCES ARE OPTIONAL CHOICES AND GERMANS GET FORTIFICATION PTS TO SPEND. . . .The German Army had crumbled before the Soviet Autumn Offensive but still Stalin was not satisfied. He wanted Budapest for Christmas and nothing less. This onerous task was left to Malinovsky's 2nd Ukrainian Front whose men were weary after an advance that made the original Blitzkrieg look like a kindergarten picnic. The German forces had formed a line along the river Tisza but it was riddled with holes and soon Soviet forces had crossed at a number of places and pushed south to the town of Szolnok where German troops had concentrated. Within hours all hell broke loose as salvo after salvo of Katyusha's rained down upon the desperate defenders. Russian tanks and men roared into the town covered by more artillery and supported by aircraft. The Germans were beaten and they knew it but fought with the desperation of men who feared only capture, not death.
