Overview:
After the debacle at Stalingrad, the Don Army had to reterat of face encirclement as well. The winter's ocean of snow had melted with the spring thaw, agonizingly slowing the retreat. In order to get thetrucks filled with wounded men back to hospital facilities at Kharkov, trucks were chained to each other and secured to a tank, whose job was to be a locomotive and pull them through the quagmire. Of course, such convoys made easy target for Soviet aircraft.Attacker: German (Mixed elements of the retreating Army of the Don)
