Overview:

Since the first day of the invasion, divisions of XVIII. ArmeeKorps met stubborn resistance, in particular from the 10th Motorized Cavalry Brigade, the only big operational and modern Polish unit at this time. While retreating, it had bitterly contested every step of the way. Despite a clear numerical superiority, the Germans had not cut into the front of Colonel Maczek’s unit, nicknamed “The Black Brigade” because of the black leather jackets worn by its members. However, the attackers mobility allowed them to exploit every breach while the Poles suffered from mediocre communications, aerial attacks, jams provoked by refugees and rumors. Therefore, on September 6th, while the 10th Brigade general staff set up in the village of Wisnicz, it learned that the enemy was to be found in a village about 4 miles to the southeast. A reconnaissance confirmed the situation. While cut from the same stone of its units, Colonel Maczek decided to stay. Wisnicz was put into the defensive with a Bofors gun placed at the opening of each of the four routes. Service staff armed and took position. The village was then dubbed “Alcazar”, in reference to the Alcazar siege at Toledo by the republican troops during the Spanish war.

2024-07-11(A) fabrizio da pra vs Mike di Fabio German win
2023-07-20(D) Richard Jenulis vs Dennis Hess Polish winThe Germans called it on turn 4 after. German reinforcements came in on turn 3 on the north edge. The Polish 10-2 went on a wild RoF streak on turn 4 which weekend the German attack. I agree with the other AARs, this is a tough scenario for the Germans, but fun to play with a lot of options and maneuverability. The Germans need to be quick on the first couple turns. If I played this as the Germans, I would try racing to the north to intercept the Polish reinforcements.
2021-01-21(D) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall Polish win4.75 hrsNo capable Polish defender should give the Germans any opportunity whatsoever of going for a quick strike over the bridge. Magnus was not so silly as to try this approach, but his paper thin tanks in the SE were forced to dive for cover in the farm compound and gully when presented with both AA guns. This forced his next batch of arrivals to come in on the far SW corner, which is all the Poles need to do - buy some time. As it was this approach wasn't even safe, as my HMG nest immobilized two trucks, eventually blowing up one and its contents to kingdom come. Total German body count Turn 2: three squads, and two LMGs. A couple tanks did manage to sneak into town, but without infantry support they were mostly just annoyances. With my tanks set to arrive next turn they would hopefully be even less than that soon. But before that he would get his last batch of reinforcements. I knocked a rider off his cycle, but mostly they were able to move up unmolested. One of my guns managed to knock out the first tank, which was in the process of retreating. My tanks moved into position in town, clearing the way for my next batch of reinforcements on the trucks. Meanwhile he was having a hard enough time just getting to the church, let alone clearing it. A berserk squad died trying, while the Germans broke the gun on their second tank. It was a virtual certainty that the Germans stood no chance, but Magnus pressed on. On his last turn he sent a leader and squad up the stairs to push my broken 8-0 out of the way, only to be broken by a greenie squad of mine across the way. His 548 followed next to place his bomb on my lone holdouts, only to have it be a dud. CC would fare them no better as they were unable to dispatch my greenie HS and 10-2 so, in the end, no buildings were captured. It wasn't the complete blowout it looked to be early, but I would definitely want to be the Poles in this one.
2020-11-25(A) Scott Fischbein vs Michael Puccio German winRound 2 of 2020 virtual Albany tournament. Interesting scenario. I got my random reinforcements on turn 3, which made a big difference, it seems like this would be very tough for the Germans if they get the reinforcements in later than that. Unfortunately we called it at the end of turn 4 when my opponent realized he had accidentally brought his reinforcements on a turn too early. Nevertheless a fun game with an enjoyable opponent.
