Overview:
After the Soviet breakthroughs during thr initial stages of Operation Baqration, the 5th Panzer Division along with other forces were employed to defend the Minsk area. These forces established screen lines along the Berezina River near Borisov. SS Police Group "von Gottberg", composed of the 24th and 26th SS Police Regiments. and 2nd SS Machinegun Regiment, were tasked with screening along the Berezina south of Borisov near Glovino. The 3rd Belorussian Front maintained a rapid advance and began to force crossing of the river on 30 June as elements of the 83rd Guards Rifle Division fought their way to the west bank. The SS Policemen, along with bomber groups, attempted to prevent the Soviets from forming the bridgehead.Attacker: Russian (Elements of 69th Rifle Corps, 49th Army and elements of 19th Guards Tank Brigade)
