Overview:

On 5 January 1941, following the report of a French attack on the Thai border town of Aranyaprathet, the Thai Burapha and Isan Armies launched an offensive on Laos and Cambodia. French response was instantaneous, but many units were simply swept along by the better-equipped Thai forces. The Thai army swiftly overran Laos, but the French forces in Cambodia managed to rally and offer more resistance. At dawn on 16 January 1941 the French launched a large counterattack on the Thai-held villages of Yang Dang Khum and Phum Preav, initiating the fiercest battle of the war. Due to poor co-ordination and non-existent intelligence against the entrenched and prepared Thai forces, the French operation was stopped and fighting ended with a French retreat from the area

2022-07-14(D) Jeff B vs John Fedoriw Vichy winFrench surprised me by not making much of a move at all on the Board 17 village, but instead moving their men west to consolidate with their soon-to-arrive T3 reinfocements. I had some terrible early luck. My mortar broke on its first shot, never to return. My well-positioned ART managed to do squat and was captured T3. My tank managed to knock out a FT-17M, but was itself eliminated the following round. And my plane did zip before being shot out of the sky on T5. Not being able to deploy is a monstrous liability for the Siamese, as they have a lot of ground to protect. By T7 the French were able to make a clean sweap of the western village. Throw in a few POWs and I conceded with the score 42-54. French OBA wasn't even needed. Not a bad scenario, but I had way too little go my way to stand much of a chance.
2022-06-28(A) Shane Pask vs Vichy winI had been looking forward to this one for a while and it did not let me down. It has a bit of everything in the PTO except Japanese. The fighter plane destroyed a truck as it unloaded, wounding the FOO. An AA truck then damaged the plane forcing it to withdraw. The FOO managed to call in one mildly effective FFE before being hit by canister, breaking and ELRing. The Vickers tank brought canister rounds but forgot to load any MG ammo.
Some low rolls by the French on turn 7 sealed the Siamese fate with the score at 41 -21 VP.
2020-08-03(A) Gordon Jupp vs Andy Bagley Vichy winWorth playing just for the different forces involved! With rubbish tanks, B11 guns, Air support and OBA its a real roller coaster :) Andy was very unlucky with his weapons, numerous breakdowns, and the Vichy OBA was unerring accurate and effective....
2020-08-03(D) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp Vichy winI agree with Gordon's judgement here. My aircraft did OK but his OBA was devastating and my one tank couldn't survive a multitude of low-odds attacks at close quarters. My other problem was that I had nowhere to hide in the village on Board 35, because huts are only a LOS hindrance, not an obstacle - so I moved back and got shot anyway! But a fun scenario with unusual forces for both sides.
2020-04-05(D) Dave Mareske vs Nathan Wegener Siamese winNathan and I decided to have another go at this scenario and switch sides. He did a better job attacking with his tanks, but the guns on both sides were a non-factor. Lots of 12s and 2s were rolled on both sides making for a very chaotic and unpredictable game. One memorable occurrence was BH broken squad that creates a hero and both the squad and hero are killed by the sniper. A very fun scenario
