Overview:

On 5 January 1941, following the report of a French attack on the Thai border town of Aranyaprathet, the Thai Burapha and Isan Armies launched an offensive on Laos and Cambodia. French response was instantaneous, but many units were simply swept along by the better-equipped Thai forces. The Thai army swiftly overran Laos, but the French forces in Cambodia managed to rally and offer more resistance. At dawn on 16 January 1941 the French launched a large counterattack on the Thai-held villages of Yang Dang Khum and Phum Preav, initiating the fiercest battle of the war. Due to poor co-ordination and non-existent intelligence against the entrenched and prepared Thai forces, the French operation was stopped and fighting ended with a French retreat from the area

2023-08-30(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Vichy French winSiamese defense had totally collapsed by Turn 7.
2022-09-24(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Vichy French win
2022-09-24(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Vichy French winDan's Thai Mortar stopped my initial assault on Board 17. My Vichy took some heavy losses moving towards the Board 35 Huts, but Dan's plane failed to get good attacks and 12's did a Recall on the Thai tank. So after Turn 6, with Board 17 falling to the Vichy, Dan offered the concession. It had been a tough fight, but the writing was on the wall as the Vichy would quickly mop up the building in the backfield.
2022-07-14(D) Jeff B vs John Fedoriw Vichy French win7 hrsFrench surprised me by not making much of a move at all on the Board 17 village, but instead moving their men west to consolidate with their soon-to-arrive T3 reinfocements. I had some terrible early luck. My mortar broke on its first shot, never to return. My well-positioned ART managed to do squat and was captured T3. My tank managed to knock out a FT-17M, but was itself eliminated the following round. And my plane did zip before being shot out of the sky on T5. Not being able to deploy is a monstrous liability for the Siamese, as they have a lot of ground to protect. By T7 the French were able to make a clean sweap of the western village. Throw in a few POWs and I conceded with the score 42-54. French OBA wasn't even needed. Not a bad scenario, but I had way too little go my way to stand much of a chance.
