Overview:

D-Day of Operation Dragoon called for night airborne landings north of the invasion beaches to block German reinforcements and cut evacuation points from the coast. Things did not go well. The British 2nd Parachute Brigade was badly scattered by unexpected ground fog. The Paras rallied but lacked enough forces to assault their primary objective, the town of Le Muy. Several nearby villages were occupied. At dawn a scratch force of the 4th Parachute Battalion approached a hamlet on the Naturby River that carried a road bridge that linked Le Muy and Grenoble. At first light, the Paras had a go for the bridge.

2026-03-13(D) Douglas Leslie vs Herbert Heyman German winFNF game. This is a quick firefight between a lightly armed elite company of British paratroopers and a decidedly average German defending force. I set up a HS on the opposite side of the bridge while the rest of the defenders took up position with three squads watching the stream on the German left flank and covering the bridge. The British assault was mostly concentrated on the German left with a couple of squads pushing up the middle under cover of smoke. The foxhole SSR allowed placement of fire lanes down both streets running through the village and the Germans also benefited from the change to the foxhole rule allowing skulking. On the the final turn, the Germans were still solidly in control of three buildings. The British don't have much time to achieve their objective and the defence can make life difficult by deploying and occupying multi-level buildings with HS. Even broken units can play a part in denying the British control of two level hexes. It also didn't hurt when the British failed to win a crucial CC at odds of two to one on the penultimate turn. Nice scenario if you are looking for something that isn't too rules intensive and it can be played easily in less than three hours.
2026-03-13(A) Paul Legg vs Jonas Bjorkqvist British win

(VASL Log)
Friday Night Fight - My Brits were able to power through with the help of some low rolls.
2026-03-08(A) Paul Legg vs Peter Burberry German winHeroes 2026 - Round 4
Despite generating 3 heroes and a fanatic squad the Brits were unable to win this one due in part to an illegal setup. My opponent set up a 537 on the first level of what I assumed was multilevel single hex building. It finally fell to a 24 +2 shot having already survived two 24 +3 shots. The resulting delay made it near impossible to attack the remaining few buildings.
2026-02-06(D) Will Fleming vs John Leo German win
2025-03-30(A) Mark Thompson vs Andy Howard (German) British winNor'ester 2025 Fifth Round. British left and right flanks made quick progress and center group advanced through smoke to seize near buildings. By German Turn 4, two German squads guarding the last un-captured building in the Northeast assault moved out of the building to a woods foxhole with the hope of advancing back but succumbed to withering fire. In short, massive British firepower and excellent morale simply overwhelmed the defenders.
