Overview:
The Russians had destroyed the first two main lines of defense in 10 days; however, they failed to destroy the Finnish Army which successfully conducted a fighting withdrawal to the VKT Line. The Russians brought the 30th Guards Rifle Corps forward to launch another major attack on 25 June, which became the Tali-Ihantala Battle. Although the Finns stopped the attack, they were threatened with being cut off and losing the VKT Line. The Finns were reinforced with several units, including the German 303rd Assault Gun Battalion, and decided to seize the initiative and attack. The Finns attacked on 27-28 June to seize Talinmylly from three directions to create a Motti around the Russian forces that had broken through east of Leitimojarvi. The Russian defeated the Motti attempt, and with only 2 serviceable Assault Guns, Bjorkman ordered the company to withdraw; 5 German StuGs were on the way to take their place.Attacker: Russian (Reinforced 30th Guards Rifle Corps)
