2022-11-28(D) Craig Renier vs Dave Mareske Russian win
2022-11-28(A) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier Russian winTrying the campaign game again with Craig at the German helm. The Russian team found lots of SMOKE rounds on the first two turns making the Tigers and Panzers in effective against my advancing infantry. By turn 3 it started raining, but the damage had been done and the Russians had a toe-hold in the village, creating some fire lanes and making it difficult for the SS to cross. The Russians held on, capturing all three objective hexes and taking out four halftracks, a gun and three tanks. The Germans tried the OP tank but never got contact with the battery before it was destroyed. Lots of things went well for the Russians this time.
2022-07-25(D) Dave Mareske vs Dennis Dowd German (SS) winPlayed as the first stage of the Campaign Game. The Germans pushed hard to keep the Russians out of the village which they were able to do. The Russians staged a fighting withdraw to conserve some forces as we continue the campaign. This scenario is a unbalanced, but will see as the campaign game continues if the Russians just need to lessen the damage and fight on. If playing alone give the Russians the balance for sure.
2022-07-17(D) Vic Lauterbach vs JM German (SS) winI drew the Germans, and we both read the analysis of the Broadway to Prockhorovka mini-campaign in Banzai! so Jim got the Russian balance. I went all in for village control. To my surprise, the Tigers were a minor factor. One broke down on GT2, sat there and missed T-34s and SU-122s. The other one drove Jim's LMOR squads off the 18Y7 hill. Jim's intial push into the village failed in CCs he lost and the second one by his reinforcements was defeated by PB firepower and ROF tears by the 75Ls that took out all three T-34s. AT mines got a PzIV and one SPW, but I found his observer in Z8 on GT4 and put the 100 OBA on him which sealed the win. Without OBA suport, his final attack withered under close range firepower. This is a fun combined arms clash, but the Russians need some luck to win it.
2020-10-02(A) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp German (SS) winPlayed as the first stage of CG, can't make up my mind about this. As a single scenario it clearly favours the Germans, so it's hard to see how the Russians can play it as a CG without conceding the Germans a big advantage to take through to the next stage. I made a bad mistake in exposing my T34s to where I should have know his hidden AT Gun was, and as a result I took no bonuses through to the next scenario and the Germans took everything, which of course tilted the balance for the whole campaign in their favour. But sitting back and being passive would have got much the same result, so I'm not sure how the Russians are supposed to play this.
