Overview:

As part of the Third Army’s encirclement of Metz, Combat Command B of the 10th Armored Division was ordered to strike east towards the Saar River to secure the Army’s flank. Fearing that this was the main attack to roll up the Saar region, the Germans took advantage of the Americans’ slow advance and launched a quick counterattack. . .

2025-01-08(D) Eric Partizan Eric vs Pierre Proust American win
2024-11-25(D) Chris Gregg vs Nate Gregg American winFun scenario. The Americans scored some early casualties by putting their 60mm mortar on top of the hill. The German tanks and mortar caused havoc during mid game. The Americans lost one Sherman, but then bagged a MkIV with a bazooka. The Germans then broke almost all of the remaining American squads and the Panther was running around in the backfield DM'ing the broken squads. Then an American half squad with a bazooka self-rallied at range 3 from the Panther which was left in motion. Bazooka hits the Panther and results in a kill, the squad does not survive which makes 19 CVP. Earlier in the game a Sherman hit the Panther twice with deliberate immobilization shots which required TH of 5 or less only to get turret hits and then miss with the 3rd shot. Lots of wild swings, all in only 4 turns!.

2022-11-28(A) David Garvin vs Nick Faryna German win
2021-07-25(D) Stefan Fiedler vs Jimmy Engren American win

(VASL Log)
American had a upfront defense with two ADVs hulldown on either flank on the hills, in reverse and CE. The 60mm mortar far back on the central 2 level hill.

The German has to take his time I think by moving in AFVs and 81mm mortar to provide smoke cover for T2 infantry push. The Panther should also be very aggressive.

2020-10-28(D) Tim Wiegmann vs Mike Grogan American win

(VASL Log)
The Germans concentrated their attack in the North, and quickly advanced up to hexrow 2 with minimal casualties. On turn 3, the American AFVs managed to destroy both Panzer IVs, and the Germans surrendered the game. It seems that cautious deployment of the armoured forces is key in this scenario, as a hit on any vehicle (other than the Panther) has a high TK chance even in front aspect. Two important German shots were spoiled by tricky LOS, which gave the Shermans the opportunity to deliver the killing blows.
2020-09-08(A) Gordon Jupp vs Andy Bagley German winI went for a cautious advance down the right to try to keep out of LOS of the US tanks until later in the game (didn't want to hit CVP cap) It worked out, albeit I made a couple of silly mistakes and lost a leader to a MMG shot and my 9-2 wounded and ELR to another - on T6 I went for it and the Panther confronted the 76L Sherman and burnt it...on T7 the remainder of the forces moved onto B44 and the US weren't strong enough at this stage to prevent them...Interesting :)
2020-09-08(D) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp German winWell played by Gordon, who delayed the entry of some units to prevent me shifting all my forces to the focus of his attack. My initial defence line in the woods fell back to the hill as planned, but it wasn't enough and I conceded on the last turn. We both missed a couple of key LOSs, one of which cost me a Sherman on turn 1, but in the end I couldn't stop him forcing his way onto the north side of board 18 - once APCR runs out, the Americans have nothing to stop that Panther if if keeps its front facing them. Very good scenario though.
2020-08-28(A) Jeff B vs Shaun Andrews German win3.75 hrsWith plenty of time available, my plan was to simply creep forward a couple hexes each turn to cross the goal line in force. As it was, I overwhelmed the Americans with a bad dice fest and this was over by Turn 3.

2018-02-11(D) jon smith vs German American winYanks went for forward defence... MMG plus squad and -1 ldr in building on left, MMG squad and other -1 leader in woods in middle, a 75 Sherman on hill on front line on left, the 76l on hill at back covering the left gap in woods and the centre.... last Sherman on left flank in woods... rest of squads spread out along the front with the mortar at back... Germans moved in into orchards and the MMG teams opened up along with the Sherman 75, the half track went down and 2 mmc plus a wounded leader too.. Germans got the mortar into position and along with the HMG were able to delete any yanks that stood still... yanks fell back and the germans took the woods in the middle... running out of time, the tanks rushed the gap in the woods... the 75l missed a pzr IV at point blank range, but the zooka took it out and blazed it.. the panter went in next and when it turned the 76l took a side shot intensive fire taking it down, the attack was over... good game!

2014-01-18(A) Michael Focht vs Joe Markham German win
2012-02-25(A) Steve Bowen vs TB German winDefender got too aggressive and exposed his armor too freely. Once the American AFVs were wiped out the Germans were able to dominate. Nice scenario but the American player needs to be careful on the defense.
