Overview:

By the fourth day of Operation Cobra, it was obvious to the German High Command that their forces were on the verge of being surrounded. They ordered the front line units to break out from the evolving pocket by moving south-east towards Percy. Near La Pompe, a column of armor from the 2nd SS Panzer Division, supported by infantry from two companies of the 6th Fallschirmjager Regiment, ran into an outpost of the 4th Infantry Division manning one of these road junctions with M10 tank destroyer support. The armor and the paratroopers quickly overran the small outpost of Americans, who were forced to fall back along the road to a field where the 778th Armored Field Artillery Battalion had its M7 “Priests” set up to provide indirect fire support. The “Priests” lowered their guns, and along with the remnants of the infantry, engaged in a pitched firefight with the panzers.

2023-07-23(D) Vic Lauterbach vs JM German winI set my US SMC/MMC up in 17P2 and S4, HD AFVs in 17P4, Q4, R1, R6 and S6 plus tripwire HS in 11I6, T10 and Z10. In GT1, I pushed the 8-0 and 667 into 11N10. The M8s in the 17I4 orchard threatened passing StuGs with rear shots. Jim's attack hit both flanks. In GT2, I sent the M8s to take on HTs but a StuG torched one, so I pulled the other back. Jim quickly dealt with the tripwire HS, but the N10 stack slowed him down and he was stymied by lack of turret hits as my HD AFVs killed his HTs. Once he cleared the N10 MMC to delay my reinforcements, the tide turned. I got a StuG before HEAT ran out but StuGs started hitting and 548s closed in with PFs. His 548s took a beating from the M16 but won melees in R6 and S6 to take the crossroads. Turns 6 and 7 got wild when I slipped four HTs through 17T9 into the VC area. I ended with one GO HT in motion in 17U3 but Jim had exited a HT, 9-1 and MMC for the exit VP before my HTs entered, so we concluded that IMMEDIATELY in the VC gave him the win. Jim: This one is a true nail-biter, frustratingly fun for both sides. Good scenario that both sides need turret hits to win, but that's ASL.
2023-03-17(A) Pascal Boileau vs Serge Doba German winA nice scenario with many toys. As the German player, I tried to delay the American reinforcements on turn 6 and I failed short by 1 MMC... Therefore, I rushed towards the victory zone on turn 4 and a bitter fight ensued (I lost 3 AFV). At the end of turn 5, no good order American MMC was close enough to R4 and I have a boulevard for exiting enough units according to the VC at turn 6.
2023-03-17(D) Doba Serge vs Pascal B. German win
2022-08-16(D) Jeff B vs Scott Sherer American winI thought this would be a boring vehicle-heavy scenario, but I was definitely wrong. I let the Germans make the hills uncontested, but the fireworks started early, with me losing two Priests and saving another with some smoke. A lone German HT in the east was fried by an M8. Lots of burning vehicles in this one. Turn 2 saw me fry another HT on the hill with a sneaky shot, while my men tried their best to stand their ground on the Board 11 edge to fulfill the rather interesting reinforcement requirement. Without early help I don't think the Americans stand a chance. Turn 3 saw me lose my best vehicle to a PF, but I was able to position my one remaining Priest and two remaining M8s in very good central positions. This would all go to shit when the German sniper recalled two of them the next turn, and I finally lost my meatchopper who was duking it out on the front line. My reinforcements were setting themselves up for a stand amidst the southcentral bocage. They would fry a rogue StuG with a broken MA that had been hiding out here, and I got lucky and knocked out another with a CH from my last Priest. This crew accounted well for themselves, also eliminating the German PSK and HS who was toting it. They would finally succumb to a StuG on the following turn. But by this time the Americans were just too well positioned in the bocage, and when the last ditch German effort to reach them all failed the Americans held on for the victory. Very fun scenario, that most likely will play very differently every time.
2022-03-12(D) Martí Cabré vs Ramon Povill American winA fun scenario with lots of different and unusual vehicles. The American defense is hard and they have to slowly retreat but try to keep troops on the road to allow for the early reinforcements. Germans can overrun the American position and exit the vehicles for the EVP but the fight for the crossroad is difficult.
