Overview:

In the town of Shklov, the German advance was frustrated by the determined defense of a handful of young Soviets. Skillfully using every advantage, the young officer cadets, known as “Stalin Scholars”, were able to beat back the advance of the regular German forces. In order to break the deadlock the Germans ordered the crack Infantry Regiment “Grossdeutschland” to clear the town.

2024-04-20(A) Chris Gregg vs Nate Gregg Russian win[Imported from ROAR]
2024-01-28(A) Bob McKenna vs Bob Trufanno Russian winThis was a great learning scenario. One of my first Full ASL scenarios. The Russians managed to hold the buildings, running upstairs to the second floor in two of the 5 buildings. One CC was won by Russuans rolling a 2. The scenario was fun, not long and had some armor. Learned a few things. Bob Trufano is a great teacher and we enjoyed the battle. Looking forward to more battles at J&D on 3/3
2023-09-19(A) Peter Palmer vs Matthew Root German win[Imported from ROAR]
2023-09-06(D) Craig Renier vs Jim Vasilou German winThe Germans ordnance smoke and smoke dispensers were used with great effect, failing only once. Russian defensive fire was ineffective from beginning to end. But, the Russians were able to manage to maintain a defensive line, relying solely on the commissar to rally the many broken squads. The Germans made one mistake which cost a broken 10-3 and 3 MMCs, but this was very late in the game. For the first 2 turns the Russians averaged 7.43 IFT garning 1 German MC, which was easily passed. For the last 4 turns the Germans average rolls were 6.29, 5.61 on IFT while the Russians averaged 7.88, 7.67 on MC and 8.12 on IFT. Despite the huge difference between rolls, the Russians somehow managed to hold out until the German Turn 6 CC phase.
2023-07-08(D) Yuqi Xiong vs Warf Russian winI deployed my forces in the 3 VP building behind, since M5 and M7 were traps for defenders.
Both sides had a formidable 10-3, making the city-fight completely different. My 10-3 stood on from German offensive fire and knocked down German 10-3 in DFPh on turn 2.
Later, lucky SAN took away German 9-2 leader, significantly slowing German push in the south. One of the stug MALFed its MA and recalled. FL attack also killed a berserk German squad.
On turn 5, I dispersed all my forces, German had hard time wiping them all out and forfeited the game.
Quite dicey but a relatively balanced one.
2023-05-20(A) Craig Renier vs Tony Fermendzin Russian winThe Russian set up the bulk of their defense behind the front two VC buildings. The Germans advanced carefully using ordnance smoke to protect the advance. The Russians withdrew in good order with minor losses. The Germans shifted the bulk of the attack to the left which placed them in front of the bulk of the defenders and open ground to cross. The Russians skillfully avoided Defensive Fire leaving the Germans with few options. The few shots available with the 10-3 leader were ineffective. In addition, the Russians eliminated the German 9-2 leader in CC. With time running out, the Germans made a push for the final building. While one Stug was moving to place smoke, a Russian squad entered CC Reaction Fire and successfully wrecked the vehicle. Pressing the attack, German squads with the 10-3 leader still failed to get any appreciable result. There was one faint hope when the Russian 10-3 leader pinned and the accompanying squad broke. But that was remedied quickly with a rally under the commissar. When the Russians broke 4 more German squads and a leader, it was clear the game was over.
2023-01-14(A) Jonathan Plott vs Steve B Russian winOne of the games I played at Winter Offensive 2023!

2022-09-04(A) Øyvind Jacobsen Bjørkås vs Lars Russian win
2021-09-29(A) Jonathan Kapleau vs Holland, Donald Russian win
2021-09-28(A) Michael Rodgers vs Alain Chabot German winWind started on turn two, which helped the Germans some by making drifting smoke. They were on the way to winning when the German sniper eliminated the Russian 10-3 to seal the deal.
2021-03-18(A) Gus Ingenluyff vs German winThis scenarios features 10-3s on both sides. They didn't change every attack into a KIA.

It was a close game with lots of vbms.

The Russian 10-3 was manning the HMG which the germans stayed clear off. Using him in RF attack would be an interesting variation for next time.
2021-02-11(D) Russell Dewhurst vs Gordon Russian win
2020-11-30(D) Dave Mareske vs Dennis Dowd Russian winAfter an initial German surge the Russian ATR took out one of the SP guns with a side shot. The other SP gun got immobilized in VBM. Without the tank and SMOKE support (we both rolled gusts on turn 1) the Germans were stuck in the first two buildings.
2020-04-22(A) Tim Wiegmann vs Mike Grogan Russian winGerman progress was fast initially, but after a devastating sniper attack eliminated the 10-3 leader, their offensive ran out of steam.
2020-03-12(A) Doba Serge vs Pascal Boileau German win
2020-03-12(D) Pascal Boileau vs Doba Serge German winWith Serge, we reversed the sides. The Germans slaughtered my Russian troops in the first three turns. The Russian sniper was activated only once during the game. With a lonely broken HS, I conceded the victory at turn 4. Add the Russian balance for a more equilibrated game.
2020-03-03(D) Doba Serge vs Pascal Boileau German win
2020-03-03(A) Pascal Boileau vs Doba Serge German winA crazy fight with many casualties for each side. The Russian sniper was very active in the beginning. At the end of the fifth turn no good order Russian unit was on board and the remnants of initial German OB were able to take the last victory building during the last scenario turn. Many dramatic reversal of situations occurred during the play. A thrilling scenario!
2020-01-26(D) David Garvin vs Arno Lebenhagen German winCame to the final phase. Great match!
2019-05-03(D) patrick palma vs Fabio Mazzucchelli Russian win
2018-08-11(A) Shane Pask vs German winQuick and Enjoyable. German progress was slow but on turn 5 both the Russian Major and Commissar were killed (one with a KIA, one with a 12 rally) and suddenly it was all over.
2018-05-19(D) Andy Goldin vs Alfred Fantegrossi Russian winGermans made good progress initially but both rushes on my last two buildings were repulsed by HMG rate tears directed by the 10-3. Russians need to avoid the temptation to set up forward and thereby avoid getting chewed up by German prep fires. Definitely play with the Russian balance to keep it a competitive game.
2018-03-25(D) Stephen dedier vs Hunter, Jim Russian winPlayed this some time ago. This time was the Russians. Had the benefit of gusts that removed smoke one turn and forced a couple of CC that went on into melee prolonging the occupation of 2 buildings. In the end my Russians were just too spread out for the Germans to get to all of the hexes needed for the win.
2018-02-05(A) David Shannon vs Tim Reade Russian winMy first ASL scenario after many years away from the game and I'm back on board 1 for a nice piece of nostalgia. Enjoyable punchy city fight. A fine way to ease into the rules again. Tim's wily Russian defenders held on for a close last turn win.
2017-05-26(A) Jason Wert vs Gabe Wert Russian winCrazy scenario with multiple infiltration, 6 down 5 shots in last turn that are shrugged off and CH's with ATRs. Ultimately, a late CC loss cost the Germans 2 squads and a ldr to a Russian HS, resulting in a Russian win to keep the last building.
2017-04-15(A) Stephen dedier vs Hunter, Jim Russian winMy first chance to play in the city and some work with vehicles.
2017-03-12(D) David Garvin vs Logan Stallings German win
2017-01-14(D) Itinerant Hobbyist vs Jim Burris German winKilled 10-3 and 10-0 in first turn. Too forward a defense.
2017-01-08(D) David Garvin vs Randy Shurtz German winI put too much up front to start as the Soviets. I did take out a squad in Close Combat and then one of his StuGs broke his MA and then had to recall. Note to self: put all the forces in the back and let them come to you and try to strip concealment. Maybe leave a half squad up front to force him to shoot.
2016-12-29(D) nathan wegener vs Dan Best Russian winAka "Sniper, Leader Lost". Early German momentum slopped by vicious sniper counter attack. Held P3 as hedgehog building. Used 2-4-8 + ATR for Russian balance.
2016-12-29(A) Dan Best vs Nathan Wegener Russian win
2016-07-13(D) Jeff B vs Ryan Ellett Russian win3.5 hrsGerman StuGs bookended the Russian kill stack, forcing them to go on the offensive. Germans bled infantry almost every turn. Luck could easily make this one go one way or the other.
2016-04-30(D) Jeff Waldon vs Chris Trout Russian winBitter Ender
2016-04-10(D) leo zhu vs Edwin German winGermany concentrate fire and win soon.
2016-04-01(D) David Garvin vs Paul Washington German win
2016-02-22(D) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval German winUsed Russian balance.

2015-11-22(D) Michael Dorosh vs Colin Emerson German win
2015-11-22(A) Colin Emerson vs Michael Dorosh German winStreet Fighting. I focused on destroying the Kommisar, used the tanks to pin units.
Seemed very tough but ended destroying everything.
Cool Scenario
2015-04-28(D) patrick palma vs John W. Kuterbach Russian win
2014-11-11(D) B-E Karlsson vs Russian winPBEM game. Rookie VS Rookie. Russian Win using smoke to advantage,
2014-05-19(A) Jeff B vs Giorgio Winter German winSome masterful skulking was overcome only by some lucky shots from the StuGs. The Russians ended up with only one half squad holding the fort.
2014-01-01(A) B-E Karlsson vs russian German winGerman victory for me against an very unlucky oponent. He had a dead dice hand mine was on fire. His knowledge on tactics and rules supassed me but luck was on my side.
2013-07-12(A) Richard Carter vs Ryan V. Russian wininteresting game. I played the stug's a little too aggressively. looked good for first few turns and then I just got decimated. A fun quick scenario though.
2013-03-22(A) Richard Agnew vs solo Russian winThe Germans played too cautiously, refusing to be cut down by the Russian HMG and 10-3 leader. For the most part, they remained in the relative safetly of the buildings and refused to advance, consequently losing the game.
2013-02-16(A) Jonathan Davis vs Mike Stachowski German winGermans used smoke, VBM, and encirclement to good effect.
2013-02-12(A) John Van Natta vs Jerry Russian winI made an egregious error by allowing a broken Russian squad to lose DM status and self-rally in my backfield, which allowed him to recapture a building and get the win. Before this I had his 10-3 and a squad cornered in the last building and was preparing to try to root him out. I had multiple HOBs with 2 heroes, 2 fanatic squads, a heroic 10-3 and who later went berserk and took two squads with him. I think I used up my quota of snake eyes for the year.
2012-11-10(A) Raoul Duke vs CB Russian win

2010-08-08(A) Miikka Sohlman vs Matti Holsti German win
2010-05-21(D) Patrick Martin vs Chris NL German winLearned that an up-front Russian defense is more dangerous for the Russians than it is for the Germans. Russians should have voluntarily broken their last squad in building Q3 to avoid CC on the last turn, but it was late so we had one climactic final melee!
2009-08-16(D) Luke Sineath vs Mike Weiss Russian win
2009-03-21(D) Andy Beaton vs Russian win
2009-01-31(D) Allen Evenson vs Andy Lewis Russian winRussian managed at last minute dash to deny the German Victory!
2009-01-01(A) Niklas Johansson vs DrawTechnically a win but settled for a draw since both misunderstood a rule (it was down to the final route-phase)
