Overview:

Despite an incredible number of command mistakes, a series of flanking attacks had put the Allies in position to cut off and destroy the isolated Germans who had captured Narvik. The defending German force was a mixed batch of excellent Gebirgsjager infantry and crews from the destroyer flotilla which had transported the mountain troops during the assault on Narvik. The Allies launched a coordinated attack from two sides: the Poles from the south, and a beach assault from the north by combined forces of the Norwegians and the French Foreign Legion. Just as the Legionnaires gained the first slopes of the Taraldsvikfjell, the Germans counterattacked, nearly driving a wedge between the French on the hill and the Norwegians who had just landed. Only naval gunfire from a British ship stationed in the fjord stopped the counterattack, driving the Germans back in confusion. The French regrouped and were quick to react.
Attacker: Norwegian / French (1er Batailon, 13ème Demi-Brigade de Legion Etrangre/2/15th Infantry Battalion)
Defender: German (Gebirgsjäger Regiment 139 and naval personnel of the Haussels Group)

2022-05-16(A) Jason Nichols vs Eric Topp German winThe attack started well for the French with the breaking of a forward German squad. Went downhill from there with the French being unable to withstand any MC's. Repeated attacks were beaten back by the HMG entrenched on the hilltop. The French/Norwegian troops gradually gained a foothold but were unable to clear the hill in the time allocated. Well played to Eric.
2020-03-22(D) Shane Pask vs German winSet up HMG at northern end of ridge and most squads in foxholes along the ridge. As Germans moved last, placed 2 units out of sight but within reach of the ridge for a final sprint if required. HMG held up allies for a couple of turns but was captured turn 4. It then sprayed the ridge breaking all but the very southern foxhole before seizing. The two out of sight squads were held in melee at game end which tied up enough Allies for the last foxhole to hold out.
2018-01-11(A) Andy Beaton vs Bruce Childs German winAllies were aided by poor German MG fire and made good progress, but were undone by too many key French units going berserk and that one turn when the German HMG finally went on a rate tear.
2016-06-24(D) Martí Cabré vs Laurent Tinture Norwegian / French winI started well with my spraying defensive fire breaking and killing the advancing allies and slowly falling back to the resistance positions. But as we reached half game, my luck dropped to almost zero. The allies kept pushing and took the last position on the last CC of the last turn, which is correct, but my last three turns of the game I broke every MG, rolled every cower and literally failed all fire rolls and all rally rolls, watching my opponent roll snake eyes on self rallies and fire attacks. It was horrible, like playing without troops. Anyway, until that moment the scenario itself was very enjoyable.
2016-01-10(A) Christopher Dawson vs German Norwegian / French winWent down to the last close combat phase. French had a one squad in the last hex needed to win, facing a pinned German half squad. Both rolled. The result a French/Norwegian win.
