Overview:
For the French military in late 1952, bringing the enemy en masse into a forced battle was a near impossibility. Nevertheless, the French High Command launched their largest campaign yet - Operation Lorraine - in the hope of disrupting the Vietminh supply system and communication lines, and/or forcing the enemy to defend these. Nearly 30,000 men and a vast number of resources from every military branch were committed. By early November, a mechanized task force from Mobile Groups and 4, an airborne group, and the Navy's Dinassaut 1 were to surround and destroy enemy forces on the Clear River near Phu-Doan.Attacker: French (Mobile Group 1 and Dinassaut Number 1 with 1st Company, Airborne Group 1)
