Overview:

In early March 1945 German forces assembled for Operation Forest Devil. On 6 March the operation began as the 297. Infanterie-Division and the 104. Jäger-Division crossed the Drava river from Croatia into Hungary. The Bulgarian 3rd Infantry Division was thrown back, and soon a pontoon bridge had been erected over which supplies and a small number of light tanks and assault guns could get across the river. The next day the infantry was augmented with a Bulgarian tank battalion from the Bulgarian 1st Armored Brigade. On 7 March, the Bulgarians set out to reclaim ground lost the previous day and expel the devils in the forest. The panzers spearheaded the attack.

2020-06-29(A) Matias Dahlbäck vs Tuomo Lukkari German winWhat the Bulgarians lacked in skill they made up for with numbers. Trees and roads were conquered while paying the iron price for every hex. The German AT was quickly discovered and its crew killed at the cost of one Bulgarian tank. The other two tanks perished on the victory hexes, one to CC and the other to a panzerfaust.

It eventually came down to the last CC where the Bulgarians needed a 5 or lower to secure a win (which could be cancelled by a German 6 or lower if memory serves).

The dice showed 11 and 12. So it goes. That German 8-3-8 ruined my day.
2018-11-03(D) Allen Evenson vs Joe Vennarucci Bulgarian winWest Coast Rumble 2018 Round 3: I setup a bit too far forward think my Pfausts would deter the tanks. Didn't work very well. I still made a game of it and almost held out. Needed to roll a <= 3 to win on last CC.
2011-03-10(A) Paul Jones vs Hakan Isaacson Bulgarian winWide flanking move from the attackers combined with a push through the woods left the Germans surrounded and overwhelmed
2011-01-13(A) David Ramsey vs Martin Barker German winUrg - a wreck blaze taking hold thanks to a gust ended up breaking my force right towards the end. Smallish, lots of forest fighting, for sure.
2010-11-01(D) X von Marwitz vs Peter Struijf Bulgarian win
