Overview:

By this time in the war, thousands of Soviet troops were already fighting in Berlin, where the remnants of the German Armies were in their final days. Among many other units, the 11th tank Corps prepared itself to continue its drive toward the Reichstag. Its earlier probes of the Spittelmarkt by tank and assault engineers demonstrated that they needed to take this critical road junction or find a way to bypass the German defenders. Experiencing severe casualties in house to house fighting, the Soviet command issued orders to create light storm groups to better organize and execute armored operations in Berlin. After several unsuccessful probing attacks of the Spittelmarkt, the 11th Tank Corps would launch another attack of the new storm groups.
Attacker: Russian (Elements of 11th Tank Corps, 65th Tank Brigade and 12th Mechanized Brigade and reinforcing elements of the 64th Guards Tank Brigade)
Defender: German (SS) (11.SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Division "Nordland", SS-Panzer-Abteilung 11 "Herman von Salza", and SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 23 "Norge" and reinforcing Volkssturm elements)

2017-04-14(A) Michael Rodgers vs Erik Lindblad German (SS) winI had a FtF session with Erik Lindblad today. I chose FT196 SPITTELMARKT from my "to play" list. I had the Russian attackers. My Russians attacked mostly up their right because the defence was weaker on that side. My Russians made good time for two turns, but got stuffed my the German HMG mid-game. It went on a rate tear that broke five squads and one leader spread out in four locations. I played on for two more turns, but after the fifth Russian turn, I could see I could not win in the one turn left to me. Perhaps if I had the Russian balance of an extra turn...
2016-09-25(A) patrick palma vs Miguel Molina Russian win
2014-11-10(A) X von Marwitz vs Chris Hofland Russian win1945 urban action Russians vs. SS hardcore to the last German defenders. The Russians have punch both with infantry and tanks but have to be careful for the German inherent PF/ATMM anti-tank capability. The VC are tough for the Russians: One GO MMC in the victory area is enough for a German win. So the Germans have to delay the Russians as much as possible, manage to get their reinforcements into the VC area and try not to lose their pair of StuGs early. The way Rubble and Shellholes are placed before the game are of importance. Both sides are well advised to think well on where to place them.

2013-11-21(A) Alessandro Demichelis vs Peter Palmer Russian winRussians have to find a way inside a heavy rubble zone with roadblocks and tons of PFs manned by SS troops but they have a lot of toys to do that.
German must to think very well where to put his tanks.
