Overview:

Action moved to the village of San Savino during the night of 5-6 September. The 14th Sherwood Foresters, with backup from tanks of the 10th Hussars, engaged Germans among the buildings and rubble. Battle-weary veterans of the 98th Infantry Division took their lumps, in the form of heavy losses, but held on steadfastly.
