Overview:
When the Soviets invade Poland on 17 September, General Orlik-Reuckemann, Deputy Commander of the Border Defense Corps (KOP), ordered all of his forces to withdraw. He was able to muster a force of 9,000 men and after 10 days to offensive action. He divided his forces into two groups, with the southern group taking up a hasty defense east of Szack, and then conducted patrols, enticing the Soviets to attack. The Soviets obliged and attacked early in the morning with tanks, which were knocked out by 37mm wz. 36 AT guns. The Poles had no idea of the strength of the defenders in Szack, but after the early morning success, they moved to attack.Attacker: Polish (Battalion Balcerzak, KOP)
