2022-09-24 | (A) Scott Sherer | vs | Ron Bonear | | American win | | After looking at the map, I felt that a push on the German right flank was the best option. Going right up the gut seemed to be a difficult path having to fight through all the stone buildings. So I sent the bulk of my force to the right with two AFV's, while the other two AFV's feigned up the middle and then also swung to the right on Turn 2. Only a token force of infantry was sent to the left to try to fix some American squads in place. The old saying about plans not surviving first contact with the enemy reared its ugly head as the two things I told myself to do at the start of the scenario (use the plentiful AFV smoke and don't get your AFV's out to far in front of your infantry) quickly went by the wayside. The German attack made pretty decent progress on the right, securing I26 by Turn 4 and all the buildings to the right of the main road were captured. But all of my AFV's were taken out...three by the hidden immobilized American tanks and the final one by the two reinforcing TD's...so I would have to try to capture two buildings on the other side of the road. With the Ohio State-Wisconsin game about ready to start, I conceded. It was probably a 95%-5% chance for the Germans to somehow miraculously pull this one out, but it would have been fun to try for the final push. |

2022-08-02 | (D) Stephen dedier | vs | Gene Patterson | | American win | | I put my HIP TD in the back to protect help in a defense at the victory buildings and to reveal them as late as possible keeping the Germans cautious.
Germans were hit hard losing 3HS to down 1 or down 2 shots in the initial assault and causing broken units to fall back.
Gene pushed the Panthers with infantry down the American left flank where i had no armor. I brought on the Hellcats to harass and they got 1 MkIV, the other was taken out by a HIP M10. Overall, the American dice were very good and Gene couldn't get much going with the constant +2 and +3 shots. The Americans were also very strong on the rally when they did break. In US 4 a Berserk US unit endured 3x shots of 12+ to get into CC with a German squad and MMG and took them out in CC reinforcing an already strong presence protecting the turn 5 victory building.
I would agree there is a lot of replay potential here. Fun scenario. |
2022-05-01 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Sergio Puzziello | | American win | | Nice Scenario, My opponent lost one Panther early to a baz, and a PzIV to an HIP AVF, the other PzIV malf the MA on the very first shot and the last Panther was bagged in CC street fighting by one squad with leader, my opponent failed his personalm morale check. |
2022-04-12 | (A) Tom Rodwell | vs | Lee Hyde-Sellars | | German win | | The scenario is really interesting and in theory (and generally in practice) looks very well balanced. Unfortunately in our playing Lee had such consistently bad dice that it made it a very one-sided contest. The Germans launched their attack down the eastern row of buildings (the right hand side of the American defences) and quickly overran the first line of defence, despite some effective final protective fire. Two German tanks also ensured that the long straight main street running east - west was covered by fire making it hard for the Americans to adjust their defences and leaving their weaker right flank effectively isolated. The Germans pressed their attack aggressively, using VBM freeze to give the infantry freedom of movement to push west fast and screen ahead of two of their tanks supporting the assault. A combination of the German sniper killing the American 9-1, a MMG malfing, the American 8-1 rolling boxcars on a MC and wounding plus little material damage being done to the Germans made it a foregone conclusion and when one of Lee's 60mm mortars malfed on its first shot we called it a day. One to play again and hopefully with a fairer allocation of luck to both players. |
2021-12-27 | (A) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Fabio Mazzucchelli | | German win | | I played this one back to back with a different opponent a switched sides.
I deployed four squad and pushed very hard on both flanks, A PzIV rode a squad with an LMG to interdict the westernmost building unfortunately for me both HIP TD were hidding up front and bagged a PzIV and a Panther, I lost some unit but the up front defense of my opponent was cut to pieces by my flanking units, by turn three the reinforcement destroyed the last Panther at the cost of another TD but the American was totally encircled and I had one and half squad controlling the buildings. Fabio surrendered. |
2021-12-27 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Giancarlo Dell'Aquila | | American win | | Very nice scenario with tons of replay value.
My plan was to deny the westernmost building to the Germans, both immobilized TD were there, I sent three squads from the beginning in order to avoid problems. This left few squads for defence, anyway my opponent was very methodical so there was no real menace to my fighting retreat, the reinforcement bagged a PzIV and the HIP TD bagged the Panther sent to avenge the PzIV. Two more into the fight and my opponent surrender, he really had not hope to win. |
2021-12-11 | (A) Alan Krause | vs | Don Petros | | German win | | Played it a bit more cautious with my AFVs, and surprised Don. |
2021-10-10 | (A) Dwayne Duval | vs | Kevin Duval | | German win | | |
2021-10-10 | (D) Kevin Duval | vs | Dwayne Duval | | German win | | This was looking great for the Americans until Turn 4 when the Germans made good progress and captured (& held) building I26 after breaking all defenders there. No German AFVs survived the battle, Americans kept two M10s mobile to the end. Final VC hex was captured for the German win in CC H-T-H, very exciting outcome when all units eliminated except needed HS left from CR. |
2021-08-28 | (D) Pascal Boileau | vs | Serge Doba | | American win | | The Americans withdrew methodically under the harsh combined attack of the German AFV and infantry. Meanwhile, the German losses rose dramatically and the VC became unreachable in their last turn... A very nice scenario that gives a furious and wild game. |

2021-07-04 | (A) Jacob Elmqvist | vs | Kalle Widell | | German win | | Germans got lucky in 2 CC and used AFVs to keep the American broken units under DM. |
2021-06-09 | (A) Andy Bagley | vs | Todd Hively | | German win | | I'm a great fan of Hatten in Flames and this scenario is no exception. The Germans tried a huge enveloping manoeuvre sending tanks and infantry wide round both flanks to reach the victory area from the rear. My response was to pull the Americans back slowly, covering all the approaches without conceding too much in the centre.
The luck swung both ways. I inflicted a few early infantry losses on the Germans, but my first HIP M10 failed on several shots to kill a PzkwIV, while he destroyed it with his first shot. Things then started to go my way: the PzkwIV malf'ed its MA, a critical hit destroyed one panther, and the other PzkwIV fell to a bazooka shot. Even so, the Germans made progress on their left flank (my right) and successful CC attacks secured the victory buildings on that side of the main road. The last American turn was very successful however, with fire immobilising the last Panther and multiple shots breaking most of his infantry. With insufficient forces lest to complete the task, the Germans conceded on American turn 5. |
2021-04-27 | (A) Macari Samuel | vs | Jean-Carlo Debolle | | German win | | AFV made the difference with accurate (lucky) shots, opening the way for the infantry to control key buildings. The Americans showed a strong morale but a poor accuracy. A sniper in the last American turn helped. |

2021-03-21 | (D) David Garvin | vs | Bill Jenkins | | American win | | Played as part of the 2021 Nor'easter, I drew the US and Bill had balance. In the end, my dice were a bit better, with my M 10 GMCs taking out both Panthers and a Pz IV as my infantry destroyed the other Pz IV in Close Combat. As such, was able to hold off the attack with 4 x M 10 GMCs firing at the meagre infantry left to attack.

2019-06-14 | (A) Jeff B | vs | Dale Wetzelberger | | German win | 4.5 hrs | Dale and I happened to be online at the same time and cranked this out in one sitting. My plan kicked off perfectly by laying smoke and swooping in from the south. I intended to secure the south side of the street and then curl in from the west/bully my way across. I had both MMGs in J15 to make reinforcing difficult. This worked great, and by the end of Turn 2 the south side was completely secure. My only regret was allowing 3.5 squads and a leader to be able to risk interdiction and rout across to their buddies, but I didn't want to risk losing a tank to a BAZ. One suffered HoB in the process, rallying back and creating a pesky hero. I had a "hero" of my own in the form of a wounded 8-0 that proved to be an annoyance at the least for the Americans. I had carefully paved the way for my tanks by scouting ahead for HIP TDs with my infantry, but got a bit greedy on Turn 3 and lost one on the west end of the street. By Turn 4 it was showdown at the OK Corral time, with my men lined up across the street versus his, who were mostly hiding behind the rubble in the north. I swung a Panther north to put some pressure on them and one of the reinforcing TDs, but Dale made a nice move and closed in with the other, knocking me out with bounding fire. He still needed a fair amount of luck after most of his prep failed to connect and, with his men sitting in open ground, they were fairly easy picking to break to the man. Another close and relatively fun Hatten scenario. |
2019-05-26 | (D) Christian Knudsen | vs | Neil Andrews | | American win | | This is a good introductory scenario for HF - we spent a good amount of time being surprised at how restrictive LOS is on this map. But it's not a particularly exciting scenario. Neil is a good enough player that I wasn't able to ambush any of his tanks with my HIP immobile TD, and I was never able to figure out where to put my MTRs with all the LOS restrictions. I managed to get a couple of well timed lucky shots in to CH one of his Panthers and then break a stack with a BAZ shot that allowed me to recapture the 2 VP building. I thought I fought a decent delaying action, and he certainly had a couple lucky shots of his own that made my job tougher. Not a bad scenario, and it could have gone either way, but it wasn't anything fantastic. |

2018-12-21 | (A) Stephen dedier | vs | Holt, Jim | | German win | | What a brutal scenario. I opted to smoke the American stronghold and MG position with the MkIV and go for an all out initial assault. This resulted in some critical hits by a mortar, several 3 rolls on IFT's. The resulting Rally rolls of 12, 12, and 11 meant 4.5 German squads eliminated in the first 1/2 turn. However by German 2 I had 3 American squads and a leader trapped in CC. On of those stacks only held my 7-0 against 3HS and a leader. That let me run my units by the Americans and into the 2nd line of defense. I pushed the MkIVs right down the street. This resulted in more brutal street fighting as 2 American squads were killed in overruns and CC with vehicles. One MkIV immobilized when a lone leader attacked and rolled snakes!
My infantry discovered the 2 HIP tanks much to their dismay but better than my tanks. A Panther was shocked by an unlikely hit with APCR and at this point the fighting was point blank in the buildings.
On huge turn saw the Americans lose 3 squads for failure to rout when they were broken by PB prep fire and then cutoff by HS and lone MkIV.
It came down to the last turn. The Germans had captured the turn 5 building and 2 others for 4VP and had killed one mobile American AFV but had only 1 MkIV mobile with MA and a Panther mobile with malf MA. However, the Americans had only 1 immobile AFV the mobile AFV and a leader left against 4 squads and 2 HS.
In a miracle the Panther repaired the MA on the last turn giving the Germans back a VP (2 to 1 mobile AFV) meaning they only had to take 1 building for the victory.
Really enjoying the Hatten scenarios but they are brutal. |

2018-11-05 | (D) Raoul Duke | vs | CH | | American win | | Could easily be titled "Liehr Launches First: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Hellcat." A brutal slog amidst burning AFVs and rubbled buildings. Rubble, foxhole, and HIP TD placement provide interesting challenges for American and German alike. |
2018-10-27 | (D) Tom Kearney | vs | Lindsey Murillo | | American win | | The German attack stalled after entering the US deployment area. A Panther was killed by a bazooka with a side shot from three hexes through two orchards. An M10 killed a MkIV and the M24’s surrounded a stack of broken Germans, causing them to die due to failure to rout. At this point Lindsey offered his concession. |
