2023-01-02 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Massimiliano Colosimo | | German win | I played this scenario and find it awful, when I registered the result I discovered I had played it three years ago and completely forgot about it (a removed item), my previous comment ended it with this sentence "Very iffy scenario which I won't play again."
Non only I confirm it but found it a loss of my precius gaming time time. |
2022-06-07 | (D) Chuck Dye | vs | kevinkilleen | | Russian win | Russians managed to negate a building hex by reducing his squad in the last CC phase |

2020-11-22 | (A) walter mcwilliams | vs | Tom Kerney | | Russian win | I knew as soon as we started this was going to be one of those scenarios where early luck or early bad luck would be a big determining factor on victory or defeat. Given Tom's proven good luck and my proven bad it was a no brainer how things would go. Tom's Russian ambush went off without a hitch and his 45L AT gun ran out of targets before he ran out of ROF and that spelt the end right there with nearly half my infantry dead on turn 1. I fought on for three more turns but even a gang rush at the Russians with nearly everything the Germans had left couldn't get anyone close enough to try to sneak in on a last minute rush.
Roar shows this slightly Russian, no big surprise there. I assume most of the German victories come from early breakage or no ROF for the 45L which puts the Germans in position to gain the initiative. and get closer to the VC areas before the Russian reinforcements can,

2020-11-03 | (A) Scott Fischbein | vs | Robert Hammond | | German win | Started this one during vASLOK 2020, but didn't get a chance to finish until a few weeks later. Greatly enjoyed my first game with Robert - a gracious and fun opponent. We missed a couple of rules early on (forgot that the Russian tanks were radioless until around turn 3, and once they realized they left their radios at home, they of course failed multiple startup checks, hampering Robert's progress in the middlegame). In the end it came down control of one building hex, which the Russians froze up in VBM and rushed in two squads... but my concealed defenders won the ambush and retreated upstairs for the win. Enjoyed this scenario - the need to hold ground and avoid losing too many AFVs makes for an interesting balance. |
2020-10-09 | (D) Scott Fischbein | vs | John Lehman | | Russian win | Fantastic finish to an excellent scenario - Scott's tanks had four good shots lined up to take out the final two AFVs for the win... Got one of them, missed two, and malfed a gun... John drives up 3 tanks to surround the malfed gun, it gets fixed in the rally phase and takes out the final AFV for the win. Great scenario and glad to get my first ever vASLOK win! Thanks John Lehman for a great game. |
2020-10-08 | (D) Andy Beaton | vs | Maurizio Grassi | | Russian win | Russians got extremely lucky in the early running, killing German vehicles and dodging return fire. Germans came back in the late running but lost 3 Pz3's to my one surviving T34 and a lucky cc putting them over the casualty limit. |
2020-10-08 | (D) Richard Jenulis | vs | David Garvin | | Russian win | vASLOK 2020 open play. One of the BEST scenarios I ever played. David was a very fun opponent. We both had an equal share of good and bad DR's (my overall average was 6.86, David's was 6.87). The Germans survived 4 point black shots from a T34 including a CH. The Russian infantry was forced to run through residual and a sea of fire to make it to the doors of the victory building. two of the three squads pinned. The final squad eliminated a pinned and CX 4-6-8 and 9-1 leader for the win. Wow! |
2020-10-08 | (A) David Garvin | vs | Richard Jenulis | | Russian win | What a match. It came to the very last CC dice roll. Needing a squad in an objective building, he advanced in with the one 447 that survived all Def Fire. Once in, he rolled for and got the ambush. Then on a CC of 1:2 DRM -2 (I was CX), Richard got what he needed.
I highly recommend this scenario to anyone. |
2020-07-08 | (D) Rob MacGinley | vs | Ian Willey | | Russian win | SO how to win as Russians since I seem to have the only victory
Well - kill lots initially - use everything you have and then try an stop him getting into town - they all stood fast and died the original guys |
2020-04-10 | (A) X von Marwitz | vs | Lars-Peder Jensen | | German win | This scenario pits a mechanized German force reinforced by a number of tanks against defending Russians set up for Ambush reinforced by some dreaded T-34s. The Germans will have no alternative than to run the gauntlet which will lead to some losses. This might turn into a possible flaw of the scenario if these losses are overly large or small, but *chances* are that it will play out right.
The Germans will have no time to lose to get to the victory areas and the Russians can arrange to be there first. The challenge for the Germans is that despite having a lavish number of halftracks and tanks he can't afford to risk to expose too many of them to the superior Russian armor because if the Germans lose too many vehicles, they will lose the scenario.
The challenge for the Russians is that it might be difficult to root out the Germans once they get settle in. It is of help to the Russians that they will move last.
Both sides will 'feel' that they have not as much infantry as they would like for the task at hand.
I played the attacking Germans in this one. My losses during the intial dash were all right - two halftracks and only one passenger HS going down. Two passenger squads including the MMG were stranded, though. While I managed to take out the initial Russian tank quite quickly, the Russian ATG proved to be a menace throughout the entire game which I only finally managed to take out during German Turn 6 in CC.
It took out quite long to whittle down the inital Russian infantry force with difficulty. A German tank that crashed into a building, rubbling it and thus killing the 9-0 Commissar and a squad helped a lot and earned me some style points. I could have unceremoniously fallen into the cellar with that move, though.
Because my opponent used most of the reinforcing infantry force (7-0, LMG, and 3x447) a bit daringly, this presented me with a chance of neutralizing it, which I did.
Nevertheless, the game was not decided until the Russian Turn 6 Movement Phase during which a final Russian counter attack failed when the Germans managed to take out one T-34 and another decided not do move as Non-Platoon movement.
This was quite a tense game for both sides. Up until now, ROAR has it very balanced. Since the initial losses of the Germans were probably within precalculated limits of the design, it was a lot of fun to play.

2020-03-27 | (A) Eric Partizan Eric | vs | | | Russian win
2019-08-07 | (A) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Federico Corso | | German win | The scenario needs a competent russian player with a good set up. That said all is very dependent on first turn ROF by russian tubes and TK by russian MG.
In our game HT runned the russian gauntlet with minimal losses (1 vehicle) and were in position by game turn 2. An unfortunate entry by east T34 and low TK from PzIII caused the loss of main russian armor force. my opponent resigned at the beginning of its turn 3 (with good reasons).
Very iffy scenario which I won't play again.
As a side note, there wan not a single broken unit during our play, just destroyed AFV. |

2019-03-01 | (A) Michael Rodgers | vs | Mikael Strand | | German win | Conservative Russian play let the Germans make big initial progress, but the farther bridge was in doubt until the last turn. |
2019-02-16 | (A) Tom Kearney | vs | Doug Sheppard | | German win | Bad dice early on for the Russians made this an uphill struggle. They recovered but were overwhelmed during the last two turns. |
2019-02-08 | (D) Gordon Jupp | vs | Neil Brunger | | Russian win | Interesting scenario...feels like it could be all over very quickly if the Russian ATG goes on a rate tear but in our playing only 2 HT got taken out. The game then developed into a village fight with tanks stalking each other, with both sides running short of infantry. In the end the Russians took out 10 AFV worth for the win.. |
2018-12-15 | (D) patrick palma | vs | Juan | | Russian win
2018-12-01 | (D) Michael Rodgers | vs | Kedge Johnson | | Russian win | Russian won despite malfunctioning the ATG. |
2018-11-26 | (A) Andy Beaton | vs | Jeff Wasserman | | German win | Germans won with extreme good luck - 2 of 3 T-34's killed with critical hits, the other malfed its own gun. Hard for the Germans not to lose heavily running the gauntlet on turn 1. |
2018-11-12 | (D) Paul Works | vs | James Treu | | Russian win | Exciting game that ebbed and flowed. In the end, he could not get enough troops to force my Russians away from either VC area. |
