Overview:
With the Russians in full retreat, the 9 Divisione Fanteria “Pasubio” was ordered to advance to the Bug River and cut off the retreating Russians. The leading battalions of the 80° Fanteria “Roma” arrived at a village and found the Russians setting up a blocking position. The Reggimento Commandant, Colonnello Epifanio Chiaramonti, ordered an immediate attack, hoping to ctahc the Russians before they had a chance to fortify the village. Per l’Onore di Roma (For the Honour of Rome), 3a Compagnia under command of Lieutenant Mori assaulted the village, forcing the Russians back, while Lieutenant Carbonari’s 2a Compagnia outflanked the Russians, managing to not only prevent them from retreating, but also stopping reinforcements from getting into the village. After several more hours of hard fighting, the village fell to the Italians shortly before 20.00 hours.Attacker: Italian (80° Reggimento Fanteria "Roma")

2020-11-14 | (D) Stephen Stewart | vs | Wynn Polnicky | Russian win (VASL Log) | Strange scenario. VASL LOG included. Also available on YouTube- search Vasling with Stew. Massive Italian force coming on. Flanking force that will stop the Russians from reinforcing has 2 turns of movement to get into position and lay down serious FP on the entering Russians. SO, the Russians need to slow the Italian MOB coming on and on TURN 2 need to move 5-8 hexes away to prepare for the flank attack. (dissuading this attack forces the Italians to all come from one directions and allows your force to increase by about 40% on Turn 4) Setup: ONE of my squads setup in a building, ONE is woods...everyone else is in the Grainfields. Frontal defense to fall back if necessary. Lay down firelanes up in his FACE to funnel his attack then slink back to the town...laying down firelanes as we go. Never reached that point. The firelanes were too much for them. Italian force eradicated on Turn 1. One ragtag force made it through a 2fp-2, but was isolated from the pack. Challenging scenario on both sides... |
2020-08-10 | (A) Dave Mareske | vs | Dennis Dowd | Italian win | The Italian wave caught the Russian defenders on the center and right flank. The Italians made a couple of crucial morale checks but otherwise broke, dramatically failing their ELR. The Italians were able to capture three stone buildings before the Russian reinforcements were able to enter and made it difficult for them to advance on the village. A great scenario that can go either way. |
2020-08-03 | (A) Richard Jenulis | vs | Mark Pandori | Italian win | VASL: Cascadia 2020 Summer Offensive (R1). The Italians pushed hard on the right. The Italian reinforcements set up a perimeter to interdict the Russian reinforcements from lifting the siege. The Russians made a game of it until the end. This was my first game with Mark. Mark has good rules knowledge, pace and made tactically sound decisions. This was a fun scenario and I look forward to playing Mark again. |

2020-06-04 | (D) Pascal Boileau | vs | Jean-Carlo Debolle | Russian win | An unusual but very fun scenario. The Russians are pretty statics and are well protected by the building TEM against the low FP of the Italians. The issue of game was decided in the very last turn. The Italians must be aggressive in planning their attack (but not too much to avoid many broken units disseminated all over the map). Russian reinforcements were welcome since I have only two MMC in GO holding the victory buildings at the time they arrived. A tight game and surely other DR results will switch the victory side... |
