Overview:

After war was declared on 10 June 1940, the first exchange of fire between the Alpini and the Chasseurs Alpins on the Queyras Valley took place on 15 June. Colonel Fadella’s troops were instructed to carry out military operations along the border in the direction of Abriès, 8 km to the west. Following a series of small skirmishes with the Sections d’Eclaireurs à Ski (S.E.S.), the 3° Alpini Regiment approached Abriès where Lt. Col. Martin’s Diables Bleus (87° B.C.A.) had been ordered to hold the village for 48 hours. . .if possible.

2022-07-09(A) Eric Michael vs Geoff Coyle Italian winThis is an interesting scenario. As my son pointed out, it pits an army known for its failed attacks against an army known for its retreats. I choose to attack the central position. The Italians break and ELR easily. So, the longer the attack goes on the less Italians there are. I had one squad that broke on the first turn and never managed to rally. Conversely the OBA dictates the winner. A great scenario that went down to the last turn.
