2024-04-01 | (D) Camille Garek | vs | Bruno NITROSSO | | German win
2024-02-18 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | | | French win | I think an assault on the fortified chateau is a long shot but kept it open as an option if enough tanks could pass the casino. So I attacked the casino. My armour fared poorly (1 recalled with disabled MA, one CH by the AT, a couple of shocks and an immobilise from the OBA) but I entered the casino in force on turn 4. However, the French rallied on their turn 4 and were back in the game. On the last player turn, I needed to break 3 stacks and win 2 CC. The PSW recovered from shock and took out one stack (Oops - PSW should have been BU and unable to fire), the MG stack took out another but prep had pinned the 9-1 and one of his squads so they could not break the last hex in DFF and thus a French win. Played out the CC anyway and French won one and Germans won the other. 2 hexes in the casino and 2:1 squads at the chateau. |
2023-02-09 | (A) Jeff B | vs | John Fedoriw | | French win | Germans attacked hard up each flank, but OBA kicked their butt in the east - flaming one tank and breaking a slew of men. I've said I don't like playing scenarios where the defender in tough terrain gets OBA, and this is no exception. Both roadblocks were in the west, which was no surprise, so two tanks over there started the long process of safely driving through the thin treeline. The AT gun already showed its face trying to knock out my one tank in the middle (which had already broken its MA). Turn Two saw the ART pop up exactly where I would've put it, fortified in the SW corner of the factory. It also saw me knocking on the factory doors, but my good leaders were too busy playing motivational speaker cleaning up all the remnants of the OBA. A berserker would make things somewhat interesting, but he was mowed down rather easily with a pedestrian shot while trying to charge the ART position and, with the factory absolutely stocked with the best the French could offer, I decided to change tack and charge toward the castle. I lost another couple tanks, one from the INF gun while making a break up the middle, the other to the ART inside the factory. The trade-offs were not going my way, and this was without any further damage from the overpowered OBA - which finally red-chitted out at the start of Turn 4. I had 2.5 squads adjacent to the castle, with another 1.5 soon to arrive with the 9-2, but they were packed into just two hexes, and some lucky French shooting could end my day. One of my two vehicles there was pretty safe from danger, but the AC would shortly succumb to the INF gun. My last tank was nicely positioned in K8 to interdict any Frenchmen running back, with another couple MMG-toting squads on the west side of the factory to assist. But the French get last move, and some very poor shooting by the Germans allowed them to get add another 2.5 squads to their force around the castle, making the final score 6.5-6 French. With the silly endgame rushes from both sides, we both thought this was a hokey scenario, and I think it's way too difficult for the Germans with that French OBA. |
2022-05-22 | (D) Andy Beaton | vs | Eric Lindblad | | French win | CASLO 2022 - Harassing fire took out 3 German vehicles, while the other 3 all malfed their MA's. Too hard a slog for the Germans after that. |
2022-04-23 | (A) Tom Repetti | vs | Tom Lavan | | German win | French seemed too strong on their right, so the Germans pushed hard for the Factory and got there in strength before the French could reposition enough. Both players need to read B23.742 and understand what that means for hexes J10 and K12; it's easier for the Germans to get AFVs into the Factory than one might imagine. The back row of the Factory (K10 and L9) offers a nice second-level of defense, with +3 TEM from the front side of the factory since the LOS actually leaves the building depiction. Aggressive German armor tactics will help interdict French repositioning and get some much-needed Encirclements and FTRs. Seems like a lot will depend on how precise the French side can be with the OBA. |
2021-06-21 | (D) Chuck Dye | vs | DD | | French win | OBA was lethal |
2021-05-29 | (D) Andy Bagley | vs | Neal Ekengren | | German win | Second playing of this scenario within just over a week. I was the French again, and tried a similar defence with roadblocks obstructing the German left flank. This time however, the Germans sent tanks through the woods on the extreme left (Row A), avoiding bog and creating a trail break. Meanwhile the German infantry started entirely on the left, then swung towards the centre threatening both victory buildings, so that I had to balance the defence of both. In the event the factory held easily but he surrounded Building I4 with tanks and a few squads. My last turn was a desperate effort to get enough of my own forces back around the same building to outnumber him, and I fell short by half a squad! |
2021-05-28 | (A) Pascal Boileau | vs | Serge Doba | | German win | A very nice scenario. Initially, with the Germans, I put pressure on the factory hexes then after loosing 2 AFV by two devastating gun shots, I switched my objective for the I4 building. I rushed for the hills and the plan worked ! It was a tight victory since I lost a third AFV on the way for I4 but a lucky roll in the very last turn ruined the chances of winning for the French. German AFVs are essential to complete the VC, then you must keep them alive as long as you can ! |
2021-05-28 | (D) Doba Serge | vs | Pascal Boileau | | German win
2021-05-21 | (D) Andy Bagley | vs | Neil Brunger | | French win | Very interesting scenario. The German tanks tried to come through the left flank, found it blocked by roadblocks, then moved round to the right and got shot by the French guns. The French sniper did some damage and the OBA scored some hits too; as a result the Germans took heavy losses and fell short of taking the factory without having made any serious attempt on the other victory building. |
2021-04-21 | (D) nathan wegener | vs | Rob Arrieta | | German win | Good game lots of options for defender. Nice attack by opponent just enough time to take the factory in last turn. Open2021 |
2021-04-05 | (D) Michael Rodgers | vs | Kevin Kileen | | French win | This one ended on the last turn with German tanks adjacent to the rear building, but not enough to win. |
2021-03-06 | (A) Rich Weiley | vs | Dave Wilson | | French win | Paddington Bearz -March 2021. One of the best games I've played in sometime. Had the Germans in this having planned a defence for the French but getting the attackers on a dice roll. Not having really considered the how I should attack I made a relatively cautious entry and finished a turn before breaking for lunch. Returned from lunch and had a good look at the map and the scenario card (5 turns!) and realized I'd better up the tempo.
Probably made an error at this point in deciding to go solely for the factory victory condition and ignore the rearmost VC building. Having correctly guessed where the 75 was (in the factory hex pointing straight down the road) I managed to smoke it and get two squads and a leader into CC and eliminate it in turn 2. By turn 3 I was getting infantry into the factory in strength but winning close combats was proving difficult. My undoing was the 25LL Gun crew on the opposite side of the building. I got a HS into CC with it in turn 3 but this degenerated into a stalemate until about turn 4 when my opponent reinforced the hex with his third crew. I upped the ante as well and had two and half squads in the hex for CC in my turn 5. I missed both my attacks (2-1 and 1-1) and my opponent then rolled snakes on a 1-4 to eliminate all my units and generate a 8-1 leader. This stack then hit an adjacent stack of three squads in prep fire with an 8 + 1 and broke the lot. I had a mired Pz 3 in an adjacent factory hex but the crews shrugged off the panzer's 20fp MG attack and I malf'ed the MA when I fired it - game over. As I said earlier I think I erred in not peeling off a couple of squads and a vehicle to threaten the second victory building and put my opponent in two minds. Even so it was a tense and very enjoyable game. |
2021-01-02 | (D) S. Slunt | vs | Brad Hunter | | German win
2020-12-04 | (D) David Garvin | vs | David Goldman | | German win | For round 4 of the virtual NY State ASL Championship. |
2020-11-27 | (A) Scott Fischbein | vs | Brian Roundhill | | French win | I split my forces into two sections, one would try to cut around on the west to try to get to the I4 building, while the main force would head up the east to try to engage the factory. I failed to make much progress on the east, with some well-placed guns slowing me down, and the harassing OBA making things tough on the infantry (Brian placed it very well and patiently moved it into perfect position). By round 4 it was pretty clear I wasn't going to satisfy either victory condition so I conceded. Good game, interesting scenario and a great opponent. North Texas Shootout 2020(virtual) Round 2. |
2020-11-15 | (A) Michael Rodgers | vs | John Otromke | | German win | The Germans obtained the immediate win of taking the factory after three turns. French player was at beginner level. |
2020-11-14 | (D) Paul Works | vs | David Goldman | | German win
2020-11-10 | (A) Richard Jenulis | vs | Jeff Kouba | | French win | Street Fighting 2020 (round 2).
This is a fun tight scenario with replay value.
The Germans pushed hard on the left flack and ran into both roadblocks. A PzIIF blasted through the woods to leave a trail break for the others to follow. The Germans made excellent progress the first four turns, bypassing the factory aiming to swarm the hill. The French OBA was big in breaking up the final push. The game came down to the a battle both for the factory and to get enough units next to the building. A bone headed decision to drive two tanks into the building cost the Germans the game. The French perceived despite a frustrating first three turns where they missed practically everything DR by one pip and the Germans passed every DR by one pip. |
2020-10-17 | (A) Joe McLaughlin | vs | Peter Jeffrey | | French win | We gave the French the scenario balance option. (Replace 9-1 with a 9-2], they probably didn’t need. it. 75mm was in H9, 25LL in E11. Only the 75mm was fired. French forward line was roughly D13, F14, I16 , K16 . ART OP was on second level of J4.
Germans attacked on the right. Panzers advanced with the Infantry. Arty was effective, mainly against the armour, 2 tanks immobilised on turn 2 and another was destroyed on turn 3. Germans were aiming to capture the factory, arrived relatively intact at the factory by turn 3., They were lucky and occupied the two fortified locations K12 and M11. Once inside however, the French firepower from 9-2 and HMG point blank destroyed numerous German squads. Germans conceded in turn 4, too many casualties to capture the building., too few Tanks to charge the hill.
We thought it was a good scenario, the two different victory options made for interesting choices. Luck did not play a big part in the out ome. Neither of us felt the scenario was unbalanced. We would play it again.

2020-09-23 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Dennis Dowd | | French win | I liked the puzzle and the many options for attack and defense. The Germans moved in a tight formation up the right side where they met the AT gun, a roadblock and the HMG. The ARTY was also called down which made their advance slower. I placed the 75 gun in the factory on the left side looking down the road. Would play this one again. |
2020-08-27 | (D) John Gorkowski | vs | John Staddick | | German win | John’s efficient Germans defeated my gallant French in this combined arms, urban collision. It’s a good, but perhaps not great scenario.
I placed the French 75 ART among orchards south east of the factory (N11), the 25 AT in the factory’s front door (J11, fortified) aimed right down the boulevard, and the 37 INF on the top floor of the two-hex stone building at board center (G9). Right next door, my 9-1 with two half squads manning the HMG and MMG occupied a fortified H9. Four squads started in the factory, two atop the western rise in building D11, with the others sprinkled between those anchors. We stood up roadblocks at O9/O10 and C11/C12.
German infantry double timed north among the cluster of wooden buildings and orchards in the south east corner. Their tanks followed behind. A platoon-sized flanking element approached the western rise at C14. The whole lot took care to avoid LOS from the French forward observer on the second floor of the I4 mega building near the north edge.
Fires flared south of the factory on turn two. French infantry with an LMG across the street from the factor in I12 nailed a German squad weaving forward among the buildings around H12. My 75 in N11 then fire balled a Panzer II in O12 along the east edge road. John’s German 9-2 responded with two squads and two MMGs from K14 (just south of the factory) to kill my crew and drive berserk a French squad who had advanced forward to protect the gun from enemy infantry. A German Panzer III drove up the road toward the factory to J14 where my 25 AT fired to scare the SMOKE out of him. Those two exchanged shots until my 25 shocked the tank. After it recovered, the Panzer III pushed north where my 25 AT fired from the factory to set him on fire in J12. My sniper killed the German 7-0.
By turn three, bullets flew across the intersection at mid board, hex H10. The French 9-1 and his MG teams ripped the German line; they made rate six times to break three German squads in buildings from H11 to K14. When the German armored car popped out at H10 my 37 INF in G9 fired wide while French MGs also missed as it banked south toward the factory. The AC drove by the factory’s front door, J11, via bypass along the road to strip concealment from the squad in the factory there and prevent my 25 from firing out of the hex. My frustrated Frenchmen fired their LMG at point blank range to inflict a stun recall on the AC.
German infantry followed their tanks into the south side of the factory on turn 4 as my artillery crashed down behind them at I14. The two-hex blast radius of that harassing fire landed on several German squads, and their 9-2, but inflicted no damage. Two German tanks bogged in the factory as all blasted away at Frenchmen among the twisted metal. The volume of German fire pushed the French out for the win on French turn 4.

2020-04-30 | (D) Indy Lagu | vs | Rob Oler | | German win | I would concur with all of the comments to date. This is a bit of a puzzle for the French. The Germans have some interesting decisions as well...
Rob's German attack was methodical and efficient. He didn't need to get to the back building, as he captured the factory, and I did not have enough to retake it.
I would happily play this again. |
2020-04-20 | (A) Eric Topp | vs | Peter Manger | | German win
2020-04-19 | (D) Rob MacGinley | vs | Rodney Ding | | German win | Overall the French have a weaker force and with great placement of Fire power by Rod in a brilliant fire and move attack, my traps were not enough to break his initial attack - it just kept coming despite the casualties
Even with Arty dropping on the VC building and a fall back defence - He was too strong for the French |
2020-04-07 | (A) Eric Partizan Eric | vs | | | German win
2020-03-08 | (A) David Ramsey | vs | Stuart Brant | | German win | A decent puzzle type scenario. How long should the French hold out for versus which route should the Germans take if they want to bypass the Factory. Tight OBA lines means I can see games being decided by the harassing fire being called down on the victory building itself. |
2020-02-07 | (D) Lawrence Spangler | vs | Diane Spangler | | French win
2020-01-16 | (A) Tom Kearney | vs | Mike Rickman | | German win | Winter Offensive 2020. |
2020-01-16 | (D) Stephen dedier | vs | hasson, scott | | German win | I did not play this one well as the French. Better thought out placement of units and certainly better understanding of OBA would have helped. Germans ran around with the Armor and got to the factory., French held in the front but couldn't get enough forces back for the win
