Overview:

The 84th Infantry Division had recently arrived in Europe from the United States and moved into the line in early November but were dolled out piecemeal. The "Railsplitters" were finally formed as a full unit late in November just as it was decided to attempt another assault on Lindern. Previously, Lindern had been assaulted from the southeast. This time the "Railsplitters" would try from a different direction. This time the men were asked to run 1,500 meters over open ground, jump a wide anti-tank ditch in front of the town, and then run another 500 meters into the town. The 2nd Battalion was the lead unit and they were to jump off just before dawn. Travelling light so they could move fast, they carried with them nothing but their weapon, bandoliers, and three bars of chocolate.

2026-03-01(A) Maximiliano Estravis Barcala vs American winThe Americans suffered some losses in the first turns while the Residual Fire chitting rule was in play. Only one German squad with a LMG was guarding the AT-ditch; the rest of the meager at-start German setup was waiting in the buildings. Rain started, followed by Heavy Rain, which on top of the Mud complicated movement and added LV at all ranges. Luckily for them, the American tanks entered on Turn 4 rather than 5, and thus could "sit and wait" for the German tanks to enter through I20. Both German tanks were blazed and the infantry reinforcements were quickly taken care of as soon as they entered.
2024-11-17(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM American winI took the attacking GIs in this one. My force got across the AT ditch in fairly good shape and rushed buildings B11 and D12. The German sniper killed my 9-1, and the Tigers made short work of three Shermans, but by that time I'd taken buildings D13, E13 and F14. One M4 with the Armor Leader survived to kill a Tiger with a rear shot. (Jim missed it with an 88L shot and two PF shots!) The fight for D15 and E15 went down to the wire. Jim: The defending force is all HIP but very small. Getting the reinforcements into buildings in the VC area is critical. The chit-draw Residual fire broke two US MMC approaching the AT ditch, and my two picket HS broke another one before falling back to the VC buildings. The GIs firepower and two casualty MCs in the last turn broke my defense. It's a good scenario despite four SSRs which don't add much. SSR 3 that recalls the Tigers in Turn 6 is needed for balance. If I could have parked a Tiger in C15, Vic's chance of winning would have been very slim. NOTE: The scenario card shows GIs in Manila; come on MMP, you can do better!
2023-06-17(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins German win
2023-06-17(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best German winDan's Tigers mauled the snot of out me. All four Shermans destroyed by a single Tiger, while the other one dealt death to my infantry. I managed to get into CC for the final two locations and won one, but a concealed 2-3-7 in the final one survived the CC to give the Germans the win. Not a fan of this scenario, which feels scripted to create the last turn death charge.
2023-02-07(A) Andy Beaton vs James Rimmer American winAmericans suffered light casualties getting across the open and once under cover took advantage of the heavy rain to get up close. The American tanks lurked under cover until the Tigers left and then got behind the German defenders for encirclement. An American hero and a lot of firepower wrapped it up for the US.
