Overview:

As the fighting to reclaim the Philippines continued, the US 40th Division sent elements to Negros, a rich island of sugar plantations between Panay and Cebu. The 14,000 Japanese defenders had pulled back in to the mountain jungles. Small parties of Japanese held the few bridges leading into the mountains. One such bridge, a 650 ft. span, crossed the Bago River.connecting Pandan Point from the Bacolod City itself, a vital link in supporting movement of heavy weapons and equipment. The Japanese had mined the bridge with two 1000 lb. aerial bombs. The bridge, crossing the deep ravine of the Bagos River was the only bridge leading to the main objective on Negros, the city of Bacolod. The Americans were determined to seize the bridge before the Japanese destroyed it. On March 29th, 2nd Lt. Aaron Hanson led a reinforced platoon of the US 185th Regimental Combat Team to take the bridge.

2022-04-04(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins American win
2022-04-04(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best American winThe Americans moved strongly against the Japanese at the bridge and left the two 3-4-7's with the mortars to take on the Japanese 1-3-7's with the Ox Carts. The 1-3-7's proved to be tougher than anticipated and nearly took the two mortars, before the 8-1 led a counter-attack to eliminate the. The Japanese 9-0 died with a boxcar morale check and all that was left was a broken 1-2-6 with a MALF'd LMG. So the bridge well to the Americans going into Turn 4. Dan conceded at that point based on his previous experience playtesting it, he knew that the Japanese rarely win if the bridge falls early and the American Player to build a solid defense on the other side of the bridge.
2022-04-01(D) David Ramsey vs Martin Barker American winTough on the Japanese. Could be an interesting scenario in here but I never felt like the Japanese stood a chance. Fairly quick to play - interesting to see if the Japanese can win this one.
