In February 1936, Lt. Col. Sugimoto Yasao was ordered to form a detachment from the IJA 14th Cavalry Regiment and, in the words of Lt. Gen. Kasai Heijuro, "clear the Outer Mongol intruders from the Olankhuduk region." Sugimoto's detachment included cavalry guns, heavy machine guns, and tankettes. Arrayed against them were one hundred forty Mongolians, equipped with heavy machine guns and light artillery.

2026-06-18(D) Mark McG vs Rich Jenulis Japanese win

(VASL Log)
Something of a dicey game, with few long range weapons, largely with B11, and Light Dust.
Rich came on using the northern ridge to protect his entry, which could have ended badly for him as the 76 ART was facing that section. 76 malf'ed on 2nd or 3rd shot without a hit, and promptly disabled.
The Mongol MMGs were pretty good, especially using firelanes, which slowed up the cavalry, but collapsed in a heap from the inevitable 1MC from a 6fp attack (inevitable because it had to happen being the target of much fire).
Jap tanks ran the length if the board to take furthest hill, and then return to the central hill. Jap victory sealed in the fional CC Phase when a Mongol sqd got reduced trying to withdraw from melee into a vacant 3rd level hex.
Mongols were annihilated..
2026-06-17(A) Richard Jenulis vs Mark McGilchristA Japanese win1936 tournament round two. Tough scenario for the Japanese even with the balance. I had fun doing cavalry charges and overruns. Art takes forever to tow into position.
2024-06-20(D) Lionel Colin vs Fabio Mongolian winVery exotic scenario that seems hard for the Japanese.
2024-02-24(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Mongolian winFirst to play and post.
2024-02-24(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Mongolian winFun game, but Light Dust sucks. Japanese swept the big hill, but couldn't take the little hill where my HIP 3-3-7 just advanced on and survived all fire. Again, fun scenario, but the two HIP squads can make it a little bit gamey.
