Overview:
Elements of the S0th British Infantry division supported by tanks of the 4/7 Royal Dragoon Guards and preceded by a heavy naval and aerial bombardment finally succeeded in taking the village of Lingevres previously held by units of the Panzer Lehr Division. That attack was part of a large maneuver to outflank und encircle the German positions in and around Caen by striking, across the Odon and from the east of the Orne. However the Germans had no intention to give up the position so easily. Three hours after their retreat from the village, the Panzergrenadiers counterattacked suddenly. with Panthers and SP guns coming from everywhere.Attacker: German (Panzergrenadier Regiment 902 and Panzer Regiment 6, Panzer Lehr Division)
