Overview:

The Kursk offensive had been raging for a week, and while the northern thrust by 9. Armee had ground to a halt, the southern thrust by the II SS-Panzerkorps was chewing through one after another of the thick Soviet defense lines. It was now threatening to break through near the town of Prokhorovka, and the Soviets were forced to commit their strategic reserves. The climax of the battle of Kursk was at hand as the II SS-Panzerkorps collided head-on with the powerful Soviet 5th Guards Tank Army. Leading the German attack towards Prokhorovka was SS-Panzergrenadier-Division 1 "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler."
Attacker: German (SS) (SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiments 1 and 2, SS-Panzergrenadier-Division 1 "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler")

2026-06-07(D) Maximiliano Estravis Barcala vs DC Russian winA rollercoaster scenario. The Russian infantry set up too forward and was obliterated by the Germans with attacks, failure to rout, and OBA. On the contrary, the Russian tanks could deal with their German counterparts pretty decently. Two of the three Russian guns were in the hills in the uppermost board, and only got into play on Turn 6. With the Russian infantry out of the game and the tanks dealing with each other, suddenly the German player was in great position to win by exiting a lot of squads and good leaders. In the end, only one German vehicle exited, and the infantry would have been enough except for one squad which was broken by a 20-hex-distance shot from a Russian ART gun, making it impossible to gather enough Exit VPs. End result: 67 VPs, of which 22 Exit VPs.
2025-06-07(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Russian win2.5 hrsFirst to play and post.
2025-06-07(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian win2.5 hrsScenario can drag a bit in the beginning as the Germans have to plod along to get into the action. Scenario could really lose board t and just have the Germans enter on Turn 1. Germans would lose the tank battle with the 105 STUG Recalled, the other two STUG's knocked out and both MKIV H's knocked out. The Russians had an immobilized and knocked out T-34. So the tank fight was 8 Russian to 4 German tanks with the Germans conceding at the end of Turn 4. The fun factor was gone by that point.
