The Italians need to simply make a run for it using at least three leader stacks and going CX whenever they can. Italians can't really afford to do much else with those units or they won't make it across the board. The only thing the Italians can reasonably expect to do is leave a "harassing force" behind in the woods to delay the Greeks as much as possible. The variable is the flanking force of Greeks. If they come in on Turn 2 (which they did for us), then the Italians will have to deal with them... at least in part if Italians split their forces. If the flanking force comes on later, then perhaps a bulk of the Italians can reach the tree line near the west side of the board before and set up a defense. | ||

Leaving behind some troops to stall the Greeks makes it somewhat interesting, but barring really good dice for the Italians, I don't see how they are supposed to make their getaway. Greek reinforcements on Turn 2 can seriously spoil any chances of an Italian victory, and it is somewhat shocking to find this as a Starter Kit inclusion. Needed more time in the oven. | ||
