Overview:

Despite numerous pleas from his field commanders, Hitler insisted that the main thrust of the Ardennes offensive not be diminished just to shore up the flanks. This General Brandenberger’s 7th Army, charged with protecting the southern flank as the panzers advanced in the center, contained only one Fallschirmjager division and three Volksgrenadier divisions. The 352nd Volksgrenadier Division lacked training, veteran non-coms, or motorized transport. On December 16th it crossed the Our River in front of the US 109th Infantry Regiment and two field artillery battalions situated on Skyline Drive. . .
Attacker: German (915th Volksgrenadier Regiment, 352nd Volksgrenadier Division)

2024-08-28(D) Nicolas Leste-Lasserre vs American win
2024-07-20(A) Paul Works vs Tom Meier German winGermans were able to break two gun crews in the mid-game, allowed them to ultimately KIA those crews and capture the guns. Third crew held on, protected by the US -1 leader and MMG in the stone building. The last gun malf'd on its first shot and that crew also broke, allowing the Germans to get to the gun just before the US reinforcements could get into position. Fun scenario; can see what it favors the Americans, however - if the crews can hang on through a couple Germans shots, they can blast the German assault.
2024-07-06(A) Paolo Cariolato vs Riccardo Tirrito German winRiccardo choose to pur his GUNS all over the place, this of course diluited my attack evenues but detract from the possibility to sustain each other from his GUNS.
The first part of the scenario was terrible with his GUNS always hitting my grunts and bleeding my attack force. In the end 6 morale is too hard and one by one his GUNS fell pray to my attacking German.
Good intro scenario.
2024-02-24(A) Alejandro Barreiro vs Nuria N American win
2023-08-13(D) Justin DiSabatino vs American winFirst scenario playing with guns and interesting to see the effect on infantry. Germans took advantage of the set-up to form a "U" around the American position, heavy on the flanks with a small number of units in the middle to draw fire. The strategy worked, particularly as the American MMG malfunctioned on its first shot, allowing the German left and right to form up at the tree lines to prepare to attack the guns.

That's when it all came apart. The few defending American squads were constantly harassing the German lines in the woods and anytime the Germans moved into position, the artillery ruined their FG cohesion. I called the game at the bottom of Turn 5, as there were no GO Germans on the board and no Germans at all within 5 hexes of a gun.
2023-04-29(A) Andreas R vs JennyD American win
2022-11-15(D) Jack Wilson vs Bob T. German winGreat game that came down to the last turn. The Germans spent two fire phases to break all three of my gun crews. who all refused to self-rally.

Then he rushed the guns on turn 7. I threw up a blizzard of bullets and residuals. KIA'd one, broke two, pinned three, but he had four squads make through the hail of gunfire and captured the defenseless guns on the last advance phase.

Another fun VASL game.
2022-11-12(D) Dmitry Klyuykov vs Mark D American win

(VASL Log)
Great tense game in Round 1 Stew's mini-tournament. Americans got two guns malfunctioned while blazing, but were able to hold the ground thanks to very lucky KIAs in the endspiel.
2022-08-06(D) Dmitry Klyuykov vs Slava Zipunov American win

(VASL Log)
Second re-learning ASL game.
2022-07-04(A) Bob McKenna vs Robert Kroczynski American winGermans split forces and captured gun or left and right by Turn 5. Americans degraded the strength of the attackers. Leaving broken units in the woods. The relief platoon arrived and re-enforced the final gun. Germans could not rally and retired.
2022-05-30(D) Jim Liang vs Craig Renier American win
2022-05-30(A) Craig Renier vs Jim Liang American winThe Americans set up their guns near the east tree line, with one gun covering the east side of the board and the remainder, including the 150 mm, covering the center. The Germans approached from east and west, initially making good progress. When the Germans broke an American MMC with the MMG and the accompanying leader, they felt compelled to use the opportunity to attempt a direct assault on two of the guns. Between ROF and IF, the Americans shattered the German attackers abruptly ending the game.
2022-05-06(D) Jack Wilson vs Ken Walsh German winFirst time playing this one other than solo. Ken played another gem. He sent a platoon with the Lt MTR on to attack the American left, and the rest of the force on to attack the American right taking advantage of the tree line for cover. On the American left, 3 HS and the Lt MTR put up a good fight for about three turns, but eventually the poor Ami ML combined with the fact that HSs can't CR or double break, they eventually were wiped out.
On the German turn 4, Ken rushed my three guns. I put down a lot of fire: KIA one squad and broke several more, but there were just too many targets. He was able to get into CC with all three guns. One ended in Melee; one I won; and one he won.
I needed my turn 4 prep fire to do some damage to save the one gun I still possessed completely, but no joy. Then on his turn 5, I needed to do some damage with my DF, but again my troops were firing blanks. By his turn 6 he had captured and destroyed my last gun.
Another loss for me. In hindsight, I could have done a couple of DFs a little differently that might have helped, but overall Ken played a near perfect game which didn't leave me much of an opening.
Fun and fast playing scenario.

2021-08-05(A) Jonathan Plott vs Robert Harlan American winSecond SK game I played at the excellent Spreading Blaze ASL Tourney in Atlanta this weekend! I was able to introduce my most worthy opponent Robert Harlan to the ASLSK hobby (his first-ever FTF game!) and he introduced me to the fact it's a really bad idea to attack heavy artillery through the CA cone. Germans concede in 5. VERY well played, Robert! Welcome!
2021-08-03(D) Mark Thompson vs Craig Renier (Germans) American win

(VASL Log)
The American tried to repair the 155mm and rolled a 6. He chose to not attempt a repair in the German Turn 7 RPh, just in case.

A bloody see-saw contest. In the German Turn 1 DFPh, an American 105mm retained ROF twice (rolled a CH on one of the 3 attacks) eliminating 3 German MMCs and wounding a leader. ROF was the American friend for the 1st half of the scenario. Starting around Turn 4, effective fire and movement by the Germans and a failed repair attempt on the 155mm made the issue look in doubt for the Americans. On the last turn, however, the sole American gun remaining in action was still possessed by a good order crew and the Germans were unable to eliminate or break/force route the crew to set up a recovery in the Mph - a somewhat unique VC in this scenario making the German victory more difficult.
2021-08-02(D) César Moreno vs chris_nl American winThings were looking good until turn 3. I had eliminated the german mortar section and my guns were hurting the enemy bad. Then a german fire base broke the 155 crew, and a lucky pot-shot took care of one of the 105 guys. I tried to fire back but the last gun malfunctioned. My reinforcement came when I most needed them. From that point on, german had to decide whether they wanted to shoot my broken guys to keep them from rallying or to maneuver towards the gun. When they fired, they were not lucky. When they maneuvered, my defensive fire was devastating. So still one turn to go when the german mission was canceled and they conceded.
2021-07-23(A) César Moreno vs Juno29 German winAmerican reinforcements arrived in turn 3 (as per balance)
German south group was promptly eliminated. But both west and east groups eliminated american defenses, captured an american mortar an got close to the big guns. When one of them malfunctioned, germans drop their mortars and run for close assault. Every american unit was eliminated but one leader. By turn 7, the 155 AT gun was captured.

2021-01-17(D) Bill Henderson vs Scott Romanowski In progressGot a lucky mortar shot early to slow the advance. West side of board is getting close to firing
2020-12-21(A) Igor Luckyanov vs Igor Stolyarenko German winWas able to neutralise American infantry, 155mm broke due to Intensive fire and was permanently removed during repair attempt, one of 105mm also broke due to Intensive fire. Germans were able to overrun the last 105mm in CC of Turn 4.
2020-12-21(D) Igor Stolyarenko vs Igor Lukyanov German win
2020-09-28(D) M T vs TLE68 German winA determined German attack carried them to victory in turn 4, just before the American reinforcements arrived.
2020-09-28(A) Tommi Lehtinen vs M T German winLearned from the tactical mistakes from the previous game, this time the German focused their forces more. A strong force approached the American positions outside the LOS, but had a small force waiting for an opportunity to move in when the Yanks would be focused to the main force. On turn 3 the Germans make their assault against the two guns trying to overwhelm the defenders. Very good rolls from the green team almost broke the blue teams back, even if both the gun crews were forced to break. On a German turn 4, it was turn for the attackers to roll low and defenders failed to get any ROF. This allowed the Germans not only the recover two of the guns but also advance to the close combat with the crew of the third gun with 6-1 odds. After uneven close combat Germans had the possessions of all the guns. As the American did not have any units able to prep fire the Germans, it was clear that the German would be able to destroy the guns before the American reinforcements could intervene in, so the Americans conceded.
2020-09-04(D) M T vs TLE68 American winThe German advance was badly pummeled by the American 105s and mortar fire - keeping ROF helped a lot. The Germans did manage to come back to make a last ditch effort for the guns and in the end managed to capture two of them. However, losses in the early game made victory unattainable for them by turn 6.
2020-09-04(A) Tommi Lehtinen vs M T American winGerman divided their force too much, giving enough targets for each American gun and support weapon, but not enough to overwhelm them. American managed to keep ROF and to eliminate many German squads leaving the German force too weak to push through the American reinforces for the third gun and even losing the possession of already capture (but not yet destroyed) second gun.
2020-08-31(A) David Garvin vs Loic Gourdon German win
2020-07-29(D) Craig Renier vs Dave Mareske American winAxis entered from SW and quickly overwhelmed the weak American units in the wood line. However, repeated used of intensive fire from the American guns effectively held the German advance by eliminating, breaking, and, most often, pinning Axis units. The game was called at the end of Axis Turn 4.
2020-07-29(A) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier American win
2020-07-17(D) Dave Mareske vs Craig Renier German winBe sure to set your guns back as the Americans got overrun early with not many gun shots. Good win for the Germans.
2020-07-17(A) Craig Renier vs American German winAmerican guns were emplaced center board within two moves of German entry. The German main assault entered in the center. Initial German losses were significant, but the Germans were able to make large gains in the first two turns. American conceded at the end of Turn 3.
2020-07-01(D) Tom Kearney vs Eric Gray American winNew player development.
2020-03-27(D) Kevin Sanders vs Rob Brown American winBroken 105 on intensive fire early, weak left defence, broken MMG late and lots of stress. But US win after very risky CC win 1 hex from 155.
2020-03-22(A) Kevin Sanders vs Eric Topp German winSome odd luck on both side (bad luck). American reinforcements came in and tried to stop the pressure. Germans got a couple good shot breaking most of then, game won.

2019-02-22(D) santiago jimenez vs Bud Nicola German win
2018-12-11(D) Scott Fischbein vs Clark Traviglini In progressMy meager Americans melted quickly under the German onslaught, and after malfing/disabling one of my guns, things were looking grim... But a couple of good shots with the remaining guns evened things up, and then the reinforcements arrived... and then we had to call the game on account of time. Fun and interesting scenario that I'd definitely play again sometime.

2018-05-14(D) Max Malm vs American winGerman concede after 4th turn due to too heavy losses.
2018-05-14(A) Lee Hyde vs Max Malm American winJust not to be as the American guns rarely missed, and the Germans seemed too keen on failing MC's resulting in piecemeal attacks.

2017-06-15(A) Louis Langdeau vs Reid C American winOof. Rough game. I tried to do a little too much, and had troops moving up on every side in an attempt to get the guns stuck in bad CAs. Unfortunately, the American shooting inflicted far too many casualties by the time I got into position, and then my final rush got slaughtered the turn before American reinforcements arrived.

At the end, two thirds of the german forces are broken or eliminated. On the american side remains Sgt Hutch, his squad and his MMG...
