Overview:
For several weeks German units under the command of General Wöhler had been attacking the 3rd Ukrainian Front between the lakes of Velence and Balaton. Stiff resistance on the 27th Soviet Army under General Tolbuchin had however slowed down the violent counterattack initially made by the German panzer units. On the 18th of February additional units containing three German Infantry divisions supported by two SS Panzer divisions were thrown into the battle, to gain extra strength to the 6th Panzer Division's push towards Donau. The German advance continued with intense fighting in the surroundings of Szekesfehervar and Dunaföldvar.Attacker: German (Panzer Division 6)
