Overview:

The Americans successfully deceived the Japanese into believing the main landing at Tinian Island would be off Tinian Town. While the Japanese attention was focused there, the actual landing took place on a small beach two miles from the northern tip of the island. Company E, riding in LVTs from Company D, 2nd Armored Amphibious Battalion and reinforced with an assault gun platoon, approached the beach under the cover of a smoke barrage fired from Saipan.

2026-07-14(D) Seumas Hoskins vs Dean Japanese winGreat scenario for starting to learn caves and landings. That Japanese ATR did some serious damage, sinking several LVTs with snakes eyes, including the one carrying the FT. The NOBA did a fantastic job obliterating the hill and took out the ATR and MMG along with a mortar crew. Another LVT hit a mine just before landing and the few Marines left that landed took some nasty mortar fire and small arms that left Dean with only a few good order squads left.
