Overview:
After a week of war, the German invasion of Poland ran according to plans. German troops of the 8. Armee were marching eastward on Warsaw, and on the other side of the Bzura river were Polish troops withdrawing in the same direction. Stretched along the Bzura, protecting the army's flank, was the 30. Infanterie-Division. On the morning of 9 September, the Polish Knoll-Kownacki Operational Group launched a large-scale assault across the Bzura. For the first (and would it prove later, only) time during the 1939 conflict the Poles mounted an offensive.Attacker: Polish (57th Infantry Regiment, 14th Infantry Division)

2024-10-05 | (D) Jobbo Fett | vs | JobboFett | German win | The Polish side had a disastrous start with none of their initial shots seeing any success. I opted for a spread out attack, and perhaps that was the issue, where I should've focused on one entire flank. As it stood, the first turn only saw the Poles taking losses from assault moves and poor MC rolling. The Germans took the lead early and never let go, as any attempts to dislodge them from their starting woods met with failure, and the rallies were never able to bring enough men back into the fight. Some tenacious attacking from the Polish side did, eventually, claim 3 squads, but it was still 3 short of the victory condition. An interesting scenario, though the setup makes it tough to appreciate the breadth of the map available.
2023-03-07 | (D) Craig Renier | vs | Peter Palmer | Polish win | The Germans had brief success as the Poles began their attack. But initial hope was quickly dashed as the Poles made steady progress across the battle field. The Germans were able to withdraw in good order on Turn 1, but could not get a result with defensive attacks as the Poles pressed on. The Poles began to surround broken German units sweeping up prisoners as they advanced. A poor tactical move by the Germans cost them another full squad with a leader that should have been able to rout away, had the Germans been a little more thoughtful a turn prior. The loss of one squad was enough to give the Poles a large opening to press the attack. The few remaining German units withdrew to the village, hoping to hold off the final push and forestall any more losses. On Turn 5, German defensive fire could not get any results. With no where else to go, the Germans Prepped. The few Polish units that broke did not reduce the attacking force much and the follow on Defensive Fire resulted in another 1 1/2 squad loss for the Germans, sealing a Polish win.
2023-03-03 | (A) Mark Thompson | vs | German (Andrew Luden) | Polish win | The Poles turned the German left flank in Turn 1 by sacrificing a few HSs to contain DFF and moving through a gap blasted open by the 9-1/Hero kill stack during PFPh. The Germans hit back and broke a few Polish squads in the center, but ultimately could not stop the flankers from cutting off route paths in the central woods and capturing several German squads. The Poles then hemmed in the German right flank in the Eastern woods, which allowed the original flanking force to occupy several buildings in the village, which sealed VCs in combination with German MMCs eliminated by capture and CC. The DR helped the Poles a key moments, who also had the ability to be extremely aggressive without a CVP cap.

2022-02-17 | (A) Chris Turner | vs | Richard Webb | German win | Losing the southern flank did for me in this scenario as the counter-attacking Poles. Also, some incredible German rallying meant that it was impossible to reduce them down towards elimination. In the end, time was against me and after 5 turns I had to concede. Allied Minors are okay soldiers, but this scenario requires you to advance through a lot of open ground (assuming the Germans will set up / head for the woods in the middle) and they have minimal support to get through it.
2021-05-20 | (D) Jacob Elmqvist | vs | David Elmqvist | German win
2020-12-21 | (A) Jason Nichols | vs | Eric Topp | German win (VASL Log) | I set up with the mortar in the middle and the MMG at the bottom. Plan was to skirt around the top with half-squads and follow up with squads and 7-0 leader. Had a lucky kill on turn 1 when the mortar KIA'd a German squad in woods but that was the last of the luck. Managed to lose both leaders and my hero got killed before he and a half-squad could enter the stone building next to the crossroads. The German squad in that building was impossible to kill and held out for the entire game which slowed the Poles down. Multiple breaks and no leaders to rally made progress impossible and the Poles conceded.
2020-11-15 | (D) Ross Mulcare | vs | Josh Specht | Polish win | As the Germans I set up too far forward, giving the Poles an extremely effective Turn 1 PFPh. Due to this mistake, I never got to fire my mortar, a respectable kill stack was largely broken before firing, and I was on my backfoot the whole time. My rout and fighting retreat worked OK, certainly keeping the game competitive until the end. Germans conceded at the end of Turn 6, as the Poles had an unobstructed path to the final 2 wood buildings they needed to clinch. Poles ultimately took 3 squad equivalents (via 6 HS) and 3 wood buildings. A very nice infantry-only scenario with some interesting terrain.
2020-07-25 | (D) nathan wegener | vs | David Ginnard | German win | StL2020 Brought my best dice game in this one... Fun scenario but I diced my opponent pretty bad and didn't have to practice much fallback...

2020-05-01 | (D) Pascal Boileau | vs | Doba Serge | Polish win | The German tried to retreat in good order but were scattered by the Polish troops... A short and fun scenario with a nice opponent even if I conceded in the sixth turn.
2020-04-04 | (A) manzoli andrea | vs | Andrea Noia | German win | Really hard for Polish to try to catch and kill Germans.. Strong Prep doesn't work so good..
2020-04-04 | (D) Marco Pasquini | vs | Galloni Davide | German win
2020-03-12 | (D) Jeff B | vs | Magnus Rimvall | German win | 4.75 hrs | Fast-playing scenario due to its tiny and dicey nature. Depending on German setup, some strong Prep might be a good idea for the Poles. The Germans cannot afford many slip-ups on defense and must perform a near-perfect fighting withdrawal, though one broken MG and they are probably screwed. They also only have two leaders, and I lost one of mine Turn 1. Snipers are a potential game-breaker. Mid-game I started bleeding HS, but I held him off from behind the wall for an extra turn and that helped make this come down to a silly endgame rush. I thought he had me, but I connected on a 12+2 shot to break one of his squads parked in a building to preserve the win. I do like board FrFA, but this scenario is not for me.

2016-11-14 | (D) Dave Mareske | vs | Mark Fischer | German win | Too many Polish units broke early and never got a good shot off at the Germans, who were able to pull back with a measured success. Poles rolled two battle hardening with follow-up surrenders which did not help the cause.

2015-07-17 | (D) Dirk Beijaard | vs | peter quant | German win | It was a german victory, surely assisted by some horrific dice rolling by my opponent.
2015-07-09 | (D) X von Marwitz | vs | Steve Anderson | Polish win | Infantry only scenario which plays very nice and offers much more than it appears at first glance. Basically, the Germans have to stage a fallback defence while the Poles have to be very wary about having too many units break, costing them critical impetus and time to get them back to Good Order. I played the Germans in this one. My plan for the fallback defence worked very well as the Poles were never able to outflank me or to interdict it. But too many times, the valiant Poles seemed unbreakable, which over time allowed them to whittle the Germans down and to win by CVP cap during Polish Turn 6. Nevertheless, I was quite content of what I made of with what I had at my disposal. Nice game, friendly opponent, enjoyable and recommendable scenario.

2014-04-23 | (A) Jeff T | vs | John Van Natta | Polish win | Good all-infantry fighting withdrawal situation. I benefited from poor dice on John's attacks and got around him and close enough to prevent him from reinforcing the buildings I captured. This one looks like a close, tight scenario. Very fun.
2014-04-23 | (D) John Van Natta | vs | Jeff T | Polish win | This is a good little all infantry scenario. Jeff came in heavy on my right and came down the board edge in strength. My mortar failed to hit two big stacks in the woods and he advanced unmolested. I didn't pull back fast enough and several squads got cut off on my left as he moved toward the buildings with his main force. I had my MMG in the steeple, but it was largely ineffectual before falling later in the game. My fire attacks in general were not effective, nor could I rally any of my broken units. This, combined with error free play by Jeff, led to a Polish victory on turn 6. This was my first game in a while and I was pleased that I didn't have to knock as much rust off as I had feared. This is a fun scenario that I would definitely play again.
2014-03-21 | (D) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Mauro Crestini | German win | Very interesting all infantry scenario, the German fighting retreat is fascinating. A classic.
2013-11-16 | (A) mark watson | vs | Jonathan Kay | Polish win | Poles survived some intense fire and gained a lot of VP early. Ended up winning on Axis turn 4 from the VPs.
