Overview:

At 0645 hours, OPERATION KONRAD III began under cloudy skies with scattered light snow and a temperature of twenty-four degrees. This was the German III Panzer Corps' third attempt to relieve the beleaguered defenders of Budapest. As part of this effort, the 23rd Panzer Division moved south from Sarkeresztes to clear the high ground north of Szekesfehervar. Panzergruppe Kujacinski formed the main attack with Panthers and PzIVs along with eight attached King Tigers and four flame tanks. Moving south along Highway 81, the Germans soon encountered heavy flat trajectory fore from a Russian anti-tank front covering their protective minefields.
Attacker: German (Panzer Grenadier Regiment 126, Panzer Regiment 201, Panzer Division 23 and elements of Panzer-Flamm-Kompanie 351 and Schwere Panzer Abteilung 503)

2025-08-30(D) Kermit Mullins vs Paul Works Russian win4.17 hrsRound 1 of the 2025 Grumbler Invitational Tournament. Paul's Germans swept down on both flanks to attack both bridge locations in parallel. The Russians would take it on the chin early on the right flank, but held a bit better on the left flank. A Panther would hit a mine and be knocked out. The Germans would struggle to get into CC with the Russians holding the bridge on the left. On the right, some Russians got in some licks, but the HMG was smoked in and contributed very little to the defense. The Russian ISU-122 and JS-122's would be bark than bite, but managed to knock out a MKIV and a King Tiger, before being destroyed themselves. Another Mine would immobilize the second MKIV. And the HIP 76L ARTY would get a point-blank rear shot on the Panzer MKIII Flame Tank and knock it out. Game came down to the final CC. The Germans were dominating until final one...my 5-2-7 managed to get Ambush and infiltrate out and within 3 hexes of the bridge for the win. Certainly, disappointing for Paul's Germans after such a great effort. But the Russians managed to get the win against all odds.
2025-06-18(A) Michael Rodgers vs Matt Evans German winWe had a close game that ended at the last CC phase.
2025-01-17(A) Herve Duval vs Francois B Russian winNice scenario.
We played 2 vs 1, each German player targeting one bridge.
2024-06-29(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Russian winTough battle. Russians could hit the broadside of a barn and only knocked out the halftrack and a Panther. In the final CC, a single 4-5-8 in VBM CC with a MKIV snaked the CC roll for the win.
