Overview:

A declaration over "Radio X-MAS" on April 25th stated that all X-MAS units were forbidden to disband. Some took this to mean that surrender was out of the question. Some of the more ardent X-MAS headed north towards the Southern Tyrol where it was rumored that the Germans were making a last stand. A X-MAS battlegroup on the morning of 30 April discovered their crossing of the Leogra River blocked by partisans entrenched on the far bank. Vicious fighting ensued and then the Americans turned up. . .

Conversely, during the second part of the scenario, the American shots across the river were deadly. None PF showed up and the AFV achieved the job and finished the Italian troops before they exited the map...
2022-07-10(D) Andy Goldin vs Doug Bush Italian winHuman Wave 2022. I chose to defend on the far side of the river with my MMG /8-1 on the high ground. Doug's elite Italians attacked on the left, center, and south with his main effort coming across the open area on board 33, observation of which is largely blocked by the elevated road. His base of fire in the center, led by his 10-2, brushed aside my Partisans defending the hilltop while the other Italians moved along the board edges for the exit.
By the time the Americans entered, his forces were crossing the stream. A small rearguard slowed my movement, but I still managed to get some Americans to the water's edge in time to take some shots at the backs of the elite Italians. Fire from the tank I placed on the elevated road got some good effects, but he was able to rout his Italians toward the board edge, rally and exit for the win.
2022-07-09(D) Eric Michael vs Stephen Frum Italian winHuman Wave 2022. This is a tricky scenario as defender. Essentially, the partisans have limited range in fire power and limited mobility to alter their defensive plan after the Facists attack. I correctly anticipated my adversaries main line of attack and stacked 5 of my 7 squads on the attacked side with a six squad with the 8-1 leader and MMG on a level 2 hill to get long range effects. Yes, I broke the MMG on the second shot and eliminated it in the ensuring rally phase but in hindsight my understanding of the terrain was poor. I should have put the two sangers with MGs on the open ground on the north side of the stream to sweep it with a squad on each flank to protect the flanks, a squad to protect the ford crossing and a final squad on the second level hill to strip concealment. By the time the Americans showed up he already had the exit VP in the stream facing just one squad. It was a foregone conclusion. Of note, 4 games of Xmas Radio were played at Human Wave 2022 and the Italians won all of them.

The Italians entered all their forces along their left flank, forcing the Partisans to reposition their forces to counter the quick exit win. The Americans come in and have to battle the Italian read guard to stop the exit. All three Italian PF failed to hit their mark, but one Sherman was stunned and the other recalled by a snipper just as it crossed the river to cut off the Italian exit. The Italian were able to exit the 10 EVP needed (+ another CVP of American losses earned) on the last turn for the win. Good scenario.
2022-02-22(D) Andy Bagley vs Gordon Jupp Italian winExcellent scenario, really enjoyed it, lots of action and movement. The Italians need to move fast to cross the shallow river and exit past the small Partisan force, whilst leaving a rearguard to hold up the Americans who are pursuing them. In our game the rearguard with MMG and 10-2 leader set up with supporting units in the board 33 buildings, and no amount of American pressure could dislodge them. This meant they could also fire (from level 1) on the Americans advancing on either flank, and I took casualties as a result. The American tanks did better but one finally fell to a PF shot and the other malf’ed its MA. In the end it could not have been closer: On their last APh, the Italians managed to exit an 8-0 leader to get precisely the number of VPs required.

2019-01-12(D) Paolo Cariolato vs Alberto Biserni American / Partisan winThis is a scenario the italian must play with pedal to the metal, rushing to the river while keeping the chasing americans at bay, since you need to 3stack those infantry units with a leader in order to push them forward some K/KIA shot of the partisan MMG can ruin your day, but it must be done. Interesting situation.
