Overview:
While the Germans fought tooth and nail for the Tractor Works and the Krasny Octyaber factory in the north, the Romanians were pushing through the southern part of Stalingrad, where the giant grain silos were. Soviet lines during this period were stretched to the limit. Zhukov had ordered Chuikov and Brezhney back across the Volga, and it was feared that the prize on the Don might fall any day.
