Overview:
The Greeks had come to the aid of the Italians who were mired in an ill-advised attack on greece. Entering Greece from Yugoslavia, they overwhelmed the Greeks and their British Commonwealth allies. The ferocity of the German advance compelled the Allies to retreat toward the Peloponnese peninsula. Upon reaching the historic site of the Spartan stand, Allied Command decided upon a rearguard action to allow the main fore time to retreat in relative safety. One sector of the defense was entrusted to the New Zealand 6th Brigade (under Brigadier Harold Barrowclough) and the Australian 19th Brigade.Attacker: German (Gebirgsjäger-Division 6 and Panzer-Division 5)
