Overview:

Soviet attacks around Debrecen were winding down by mid-October while all across the Hungarian Plains German units of General der Artillerie Maximilian Fretter-Pico's VI Armee had bent but not broken. Often, General Rodion Malinovsky's cavalry-mechanized groups would penetrate too deeply too quickly-and end up encircled themselves. Such was the case around Dereske with cavalry-mechanized group Gorshkov being cut off. The only escape opportunity for Gorshkov was to attack the lines of Generalleutnaut Erich Abraham's Infanterie-Division 76.

2025-11-20(A) Maximiliano Estravis Barcala vs Marty Snow German winAs the Russian, I think the best choice is to start Turn 1 with a Human Wave, which I didn't do. I tried to fire Smoke with one tank and discharge with the other; both failed. Thus, all units were exposed to FFNAM and FFMO for most of their movement. The little cover they could get was in woods, which in turn got airburst by the German mortar. Also, smartly spread German squads meant that PFs are menacing almost anywhere in the board. At the end of the second Russian turn, victory was conceded.
2025-11-02(D) S. Slunt vs Colin Jeschke German winThe Germans started spread out hoping to provide crossing fields of fire
There were two German squad set at the wings and as far back as possible. The Trenches were set against the gully.
The 50L Gun was the star of the Reich. It had destroyed the 2 sherman broke 4 squads on rate of fire Terror. It was finally elimated in Close combat but not before taking out the 3 AFV and killing a squad. The Russians ran out of time trying to get through of grain. The arriving Stugs moved up and denied the Russian free range
2024-11-16(D) Simon Staniforth vs Mike Davies German winA fall back defence, I set the trench line up near the gully and sacrificed some troops to allow others to fall back. I went for the ATG which got one of the Shermans T1 but then malfed out. Used a lot of Fire Lanes on the defence. Russians nailed the StuG(L) with the armour leader pretty quickly but they lacked the strength to force the trench line (aided by good dice in defensive fire) or exit sufficient troops for the win
2024-10-07(A) Michael Rodgers vs Ray Woloszyn Russian win
2023-12-04(D) John Garlic vs Giasone DE BONI Russian win
