Overview:

After the initial landings at Oslo, the Germans began to move northward, through the valley of the Gudbrandsdalen, towards Trondheim. The Norwegians and British forces there attempted numerous blocking actions which were largely unsuccessful. One such was made by elements of Group Ruge outside the village of Balberkamp. Knowing they could not halt panzers, the Norwegians fully expected British reinforcements to come to their aid in their desperate stand. Displaying superb tactical insight, the German commander dispatched a lightly armed company in a wide flanking movement to seize the heights behind the enemy position. Luck was with them, and the Germans were able to establish themselves on the hills just prior to the arrival of the British.

2026-01-02(A) Don Berg vs Solo German winPlayed against Allied strategy found on internet. The Norwegians defended the forest road spread across board 5. Germans flanked both ends with a small force. The west side was held up by the HMG, but the main force and the flankers on the right broke through eventually. Three squads were able to fall back to the village. The British did not show up until turn 8, and the German flanking force arrived the next turn. The Germans and British arrived at the board 2 bottleneck at the same time, and the Germans came through on top due to better leadership, force and hilltop positioning. The INF gun but the cherry on top by pulling up on the eastern board 2 hill and got off a couple of shots. Two German berserkers sealed the deal; one in the chateau and the other at the crossroads.
2025-10-18(A) S. Slunt vs Tim Osborne German winThe game started well for the Allies and Tim rolled snake eyes on his reinforcement roll allow them to enter on turn 2. The German grinded forward breaking or kill a lot of Norwegians. The German reinforcements finally came on turn 8. Coming on the East side of Board 2. The Allies we caught in the narrows of board 2 as the German forced the road and through the town. The Allies conceded at the beginning of thier turn 9 as they realized that they would have to come back and try to take cross road at the top of board 2 Good game thanks Tim for indulging me as I had wanted to play this one for a while
2023-06-30(A) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval German win
2023-06-13(A) Shane Pask vs Norwegian / British winI first played this scenario in 2006 without the ASL conversion (A063) and it is still one of my favourites. On turn 1, the Norwegian greens redeployed to the township while the first liners staged a slow withdrawal through the woods. This was highly effective as the Germans could not hit the side of a barn and broke at the slightest sound of gunfire. On turn 4, I fired 6 times against the MMG squad for no effect. The Norwegian HMG did an excellent job at the crossroads on board 5 and was not overcome until turn 12 (and it took 2 heroes to do it!).
Poms arrived turn 4 and the Germans arrived on the east of board 3 four turns later. The Poms quickly reached the pass on board 2 and dug in at the junction before the Germans could arrive. The Panzer assisted the reinforcements against the Poms and I managed to unhook the INF on the board 2 ridge but both were ineffective (the Panzer was shocked by an ATR and then dispatched in CC).
On turn 13, the poms still had 4 hexes controlling the roads. The INF finally managed a hit with intensive fire that broke one stack, another was also already in melee. That left a 9-1 and one squad in front of three 4-5-7 squads sitting in the road (out of sight of the 75). The 9-1 broke the first two advancing squads but the third one made it. They then killed 2 squads trying to get past them to the big stack with FPF rolls of 2 and 3. One squad still managed to reach the rear platoon (which had been bolstered by then with a hero). 2 final CC for the match - the 9-1 at 1:1 could only manage a CR result but the platoon at 3:1 with a hero JUST made it to eliminate the German attacker. Allies win
2021-06-11(D) Eric Topp vs Magnus Rimvall Norwegian / British winGerman reinforcements arrived first but next turn the British turned up so no extra squad for them. Norwegian forces defended the board 5 forest (almost) to the end. The British dominated board 6 from the "chateau" and prevented the Germans from mounting an attack on the British units at the north end of the board. Magnus conceded on turn 13 when a British ATR knocked out his halftrack.
