Overview:

By the very last hours of 1942, the German expedition to the Caucasus was finished. The Germans were saying goodbye to the scene of much bloody fighting. But there was no nostalgia in the parting, only hope that one would still be in time to escape the great trap set by the Russians. The Germans began a series of withdrawals from one sector to another, holding out by day, marching by night. The river Kuma was the first natural river barrier once the Promised Land of the Caucasian oil had been abandoned. The divisions and corps had to cross the river to get back. At very first light on 9th January Lt. Klumpel of Panzerjaeger Battaslion 111 moved off with an anti-tank troop of his first company to secure the bridge over the Juma north of the town. The bridge needed to be held until the last German forces had gained the northern bank. . . .A Russian force of a dozen squads supported by a T34 M41 must attempt to storm a bridge on Bd. 40 and have more forces on the far side than the Germans at game end. First they must force their way past a small German garrison defending the Board 3 village before they can take on the bridge defenders based around a small infantry force and three 37L ATGs.
